woof* Posted April 26, 2012 Report Posted April 26, 2012 Watchco has put a ton of cases up for auction on the bay .....and the prices of those tissot chronos have gone up Yeah no kidding, and affordable(sorta )too. I looked at watchco's store today, lots of cases! I keep coming back to these watches. I'm still amazed and in awe of your skills and ingenuity. I wonder how difficult it would be to find the correct tissot donor. Beautiful work and watches!
azgjav Posted April 28, 2012 Author Report Posted April 28, 2012 cheers guys! i've just found another tissot prs 516 chronograph with the same movement. i might make something soon!
Poisoncigar Posted April 28, 2012 Report Posted April 28, 2012 Yeah those Tissot prices have gone through the roof. I watched one go for over 400 bucks, another for 350 and it was a broken watch.
woof* Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 cheers guys! i've just found another tissot prs 516 chronograph with the same movement. i might make something soon! Great! Keep me posted!
cougar1 Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 Great! Keep me posted! +1 Will be very interested, a few very interesting other projects could be done with the right dials. Anybody keep an eye on the watchco cases the other night? They were getting quite a lot of attention! I hope everybody who plans on doing a project like this (It has a lot of attention over on RWI also!) ...have now got it out of their system, and bought all the cases and tissots they need I want them all to be reasonably priced in about six months!
Poisoncigar Posted May 2, 2012 Report Posted May 2, 2012 Yeah hopefully the Tissot movements price will get in the believable range. LOL
azgjav Posted May 2, 2012 Author Report Posted May 2, 2012 DANG! didn't win any, ANY of the cases. think there'll be a working tissot movement for sale in the parts forum soon, those thinking of making a speedy take note! 1
woof* Posted May 2, 2012 Report Posted May 2, 2012 How can you find the correct movement? The tissot prs 516 are all over eBay and many are quarts models.
Poisoncigar Posted May 2, 2012 Report Posted May 2, 2012 It is my understanding you are looking for one with a Lemania 873 movement, perhaps even an 871 might work. Both are hand wind models.
azgjav Posted May 3, 2012 Author Report Posted May 3, 2012 i can tell by the subdial spacing and a shot of the movement. most of the time, i'll have to look through all the results for "tissot chrono*" on ebay just to find one or 2 for sale.
eunomians Posted May 4, 2012 Report Posted May 4, 2012 Very nice. Am I correct in assuming that a different mov't holder/spacer is needed with a display case back? I'd like to add one to my genuine 3570. Cheers
ghost Posted January 22, 2013 Report Posted January 22, 2013 Sorry to bring up this old thread but im starting to find these omegas v attractive. I dont know anything about them but they seem a nice alternative to the expensive 6263 builds! I did a quick search on ebay and the gens dont seem that exorbitant. I'm assuming these builds are of the rarer persuasion though. So the real question is. Go sexy and hunt down these parts? Or go lazy and buy one off ebay?
seriph Posted January 22, 2013 Report Posted January 22, 2013 I joined the airforce because of the Apollo program - one day I will build or buy a speedie ... but will go with one that predates AP11 as I feel it is a little cheesy having the stuff about the moon on the timepiece itself. ALL THAT SAID!!!!! ... I LOVE the work done here by the OP - it is superb and the watches themselves are truly things of real beauty.
NotColorblind Posted January 28, 2013 Report Posted January 28, 2013 Great job, they all look amazing!
