tabularasa415 Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 Alright guys, I'm going to be working out of town for 4 weeks. I'll be driving to another location and staying at a Hotel. Anyone ever have something stolen from their room? Anyway, how many and which watches from my collection would you take? I will be wearing both casual (slacks and a polo/ button down) as well as formal (suit and tie). If you say 3, which 3 from my box. I want versatility... And before anyone asks, gens are the Speedy (moon watch-also have bracelet and a nice gray strap and leather NATO), DateJust and Connie -- I'm sure that may affect some people's choices. The rest are either modified or Franken. Thanks for any advice... --Jer Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ephry73 Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 If it were me, I would keep it simple and just down to two watches. The sub from box 2 and the speedie from box 3 with the added strap. Both elegant and rugged and non pretentious to some that don't know. E
Jkay Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 OK for after-work with jeans or casual pants .. the vintage Rolex GMT all the way. I was going to say the Sub until I saw the GMT. For the working day, I'd go Omega Aqua-Terra .. the DJ is too predictable.
tabularasa415 Posted May 16, 2012 Author Report Posted May 16, 2012 The Omega AT is my everyday work watch. I get more compliments on that damn thing than pretty much every other watch I own combined! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Pre V Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 Since summer is nearing.... For casual, my vote goes to : GMT Master 1675 For suit, it has to be : Daytona 6263
dluddy Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 GMT-IIC and AquaTerra. Keep the one you don't wear in the safe in the hotel room
TeeJay Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 My vote would be for the silver DateJust, it has everything: Clear dial, ss bracelet incase you wind up swimming or hot tubbing, classic look, but not too ostentatious. You're going to be out of your zone for a fair period, you don't want to attract the wrong kind of attention and get jacked in a parking lot... Equally, with the DJ, you wouldn't need any other watch, so no need to worry about the maid ripping off your 'spare watch' either
tabularasa415 Posted May 17, 2012 Author Report Posted May 17, 2012 I'm thinking my DateJust bc of its versatility and the PAM 156 bc I can take multiple straps and play swatch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
tabularasa415 Posted May 17, 2012 Author Report Posted May 17, 2012 Started life off as a 1655... All the usual RolexAddict mods, yuki dial, gen tropic, insert, crown and tube. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
rrari1 Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 If you have time maybe get a new watch or two for the trip.
tabularasa415 Posted May 20, 2012 Author Report Posted May 20, 2012 If I buy anymore watches, one of you guys is going to have to put me up because I'll be kicked out of my own house If you have time maybe get a new watch or two for the trip.
Wactch101 Posted May 22, 2012 Report Posted May 22, 2012 If taking two watches: Datejust and panerai for work, luminor gmt brown strap, is a good casual look. if just 1 the sub or gmtii as they are both very versatile.
