Yes date wheel is on the movement.

Thank You Steve. So then that settles it.

So here is the order:

5512 with A2836 movement

Either Yuki or EBay dial

T125 crystal

I think that should work. Thank you everyone for the information, and I'll be sure to post up once its all complete. Thanks Again

Don't forget the crown. Josh's crown is the worst thing about that watch.

It's worse than the small crown gards. I think some members were able to grind theirs down.

A gen 703 crown will only cost 60$ or so and Clark's tube for 17$. :) Or at least find a shorter rep crown.

There is a terrific giant thread on this very watch from last year. It's called something like: "Josh's 5513 is really nice"

It's about ten pages long and all kinds of us contributed with all kinds of mods and discoveries of things that worked and didn't.

That thread alone probably sold a few hundred watches for Josh lol. Sorry I don't have a link. But if you find it that's a worthwhile read and will be helpful to you with your build.

Pick up one of the Red/Black roulette date wheels and have a 7021 Snowflake instead

I do love a roulette date wheel. So that may definitely be in the cards. ;)

Wow this thread got me interested in the snowflake. Thanks Woof for the detailed breakdown on suggested mods and from where to source them.

No worries,

If you have questions, feel free to pm me for help. No expert, but I usually know who has the answers :)

That looks pretty good JMB. That may be a solid option. How was the printing on it?

cyphion, take a look at my thread 'Comparison of 9401/9411 dials.' I posted pictures of the Ebay dial beside a Yuki and gen service dial for comparison.

  • 6 months later...

Snowflakes use high beat movements so a 2846 is pointless due to wrong beat rate.

Keep in mind:

Tropic 125 = eta 2784

Tropic 127 = Rolex 1570

Tropic 144 = eta 2824

Why Tudors use different crystals between 2784 ( what a true snowflake uses) and a 2824 I'm not sure but my guess is for correct date magnification.

I realize that this is a very old thread but it was a great resource to me and I'm sure others who search will find it as well so I wished to make a small clarification from what I've found in my research.

The ETA 2776 that originally came on the 9411 was in fact 21,600 bph as was the 2784 on the 9401 so if anyone plans to use a 2824 (which runs at 28,800) then the beat rate would be incorrect.

So in actuality the 2846 being 21,600 would be a great fit for those who plan on using a Cartel 5513 case as they're already made to fit a proper stem height of a 2836-2 and so they'll fit right in the case with minimal modifications.

The 2873 would also be correct.

Resources are as follows:

http://www.mwrforum....ead.php?t=24930 (halfway down the page listing the movement calibres)

Gen:

2776 : http://www.ranfft.de...&2uswk&ETA_2776

2874: http://www.ranfft.de...&2uswk&ETA_2784

Our use:

2824-1 (WRONG beatrate): http://www.ranfft.de...uswk&ETA_2824_1

2824-2 (WRONG beatrate): http://www.ranfft.de...uswk&ETA_2824_2

2846 (CORRECT beatrate in both 17 and 21 jeweled versions): http://www.ranfft.de...&2uswk&ETA_2846

Please let me know if I've made any incorrect judgements.

Thanks.

All Tudor sub 2776 and 2784's are 28800 bph. If a Tudor sub has a 21600 bph movement 1st rule of thumb is that it is a replacement. I own a 9411 from 1973 which is very early for a 9411 with a 28800 bph 2784 in it.

390 is in 7928 (18000 bph)

2483 is in 7016 (18000 bph)

2484 is in 7021 (18000 bph)

2776 is in the 9401 (28800 bph)

2784 is in the 9411 (28800 bph)

2824 is in the 76100, 79090 and 79190 (28800 bph)

Gavidoc,

I think this is where we disagree.

I cannot find evidence of the 2776 and 2784 that are 28,800. Is there some reference you can find that might help clarify the issue?

If you note the ranfft research I did the data there seem to suggest that both of those movements came in 21,600 bph.

Thanks.

I just pulled up the ranff website ,Googled 2784 and the website said ETA 2784 is 28800.

Here is the link http://www.ranfft.de/cgi-bin/bidfun-db.cgi?10&ranfft&0&2uswk&ETA_2784

The 2783 is a 21XXX movement, not the 2784

We will have to disagree then. over the years I have owned 3 9401's and 8 9411's. i currently own 2 9411's. all were 28800 bph. If there was ever a 21600 2784 I haven't seen them. Eta made a 21600 bph version of the 2784 and that was the 2783.

Could I be wrong on the 2776? Sure. I don't own one currently but I am pretty sure they were 28800 bph as Rolex modified them.

Also the post you reference on MWR is my post.

Gavidoc and Panerai153,

Thanks for catching my error! You are correct that the 2894 is 28,800.

I can't believe that after looking at so many pages I missed that :(

It's still bizarre to me that the 2776 is listed even in other records as 21,600 bph.

http://hiro.alliancehorlogere.com/en/Under_the_Loupe/ETA_2776

http://www.weltderuhren.eu/uhren-technische-dokumentation/uhren-hebewinkel/eta.html (about halfway down the page)

It seems that interestingly enough the date versions of 9411/0 had the higher beat 28,800 bph however the no-date of the 9401/0 has the 21,600 bph.

Peculiar indeed........
