cjjoyce1
Fantastic! It's interesting how the original in the movie had it on an 18mm NATO, and how Bond still wore it with a dinner jacket - a bit casual for him
freddy333
Connery could wear a Rolex-signed banana & it would look cool. On just anyone else, a vintage Sub/striped strap worn with formal wear just looks silly (speaking empirically).
JoeyB
I've been wearing it the last couple of days and received very positive reactions from people. Something about it makes it quite noticeable. The NATO strap colors really go well with the gilt dial. I'm not a strap fan, and certainly not a NATO strap fan at all, but this one works well. But you are right, and a step further in that a Submariner is not a watch to wear with formal attire, and certainly not a vintage diver's watch nor any tool watch. Only Connery's Bond could do that. Nanuq
My photo skills are not very good, but here is a dial shot. I think it came out nice. Are my eyes deceiving me or is that a tropical dial?!
JoeyB
No, it's just the reflection in the crystal. But with those decals it'd be easy enough to do.
Seanpnichols
Great looking watch Joey! That's exacty the look I'd like to get. Did you purchases it like that or did you get a base model and do lots of mods? Please share with the group.
JoeyB
Thank you! This one is a straight up build. I just posted about it here: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/157082-6538-case-review-phongs-vs-tiger/ reply #17. It is not a very difficult build, I think the key is the dial. studiocityanonymous
The reason he's wearing the NATO strap is that in the scene before, he infiltrated the joint via SCUBA, and his Sub was worn on the outside of his wetsuit... wouldn't have boded well for a leather strap.
