Big Dazza Posted March 16, 2013 Report Posted March 16, 2013 Hey guys just finished aging this Blancpain Fifty Fathoms for someone and thought I'd share Such an improvement over the stock dial (pity its too dark to take some good photos). Think I'll be off to buy myself one now, really fallen in love with the FF. 1
ogladio Posted March 16, 2013 Report Posted March 16, 2013 Incredible work mate, that looks stunning! Might have to put this back on my wish list... 1
denimhead Posted March 16, 2013 Report Posted March 16, 2013 Very Nice Daz, Which dealers selling it?
Big Dazza Posted March 16, 2013 Author Report Posted March 16, 2013 I'm contacting a guy called Dennis Rudy about getting one, aint cheap though and will defo need to age it, the stock dial is way too clean and shiny
Big Dazza Posted March 16, 2013 Author Report Posted March 16, 2013 Heres what it looked like originally (image from googler but same watch especially)
cc33 Posted March 16, 2013 Report Posted March 16, 2013 How did you get the yellow bezel markers looking so creamy/yummy??
Big Dazza Posted March 16, 2013 Author Report Posted March 16, 2013 I only sanded the bezel insert slightly to give it a less shiny look, those bezel inserts are glued in solid. Im asking for a spare insert when I buy mine to relume it. Saying that the insert on the watch I was modding wasnt quite as yellow as that photo I found
cc33 Posted March 16, 2013 Report Posted March 16, 2013 Looks very very good. Congrats to the lucky owner
ogladio Posted March 16, 2013 Report Posted March 16, 2013 Cool, had never heard of Dennis Rudy before, thought only DSN had vintage BPs! $425 seems fair, given you get an eta 2824... Where is the replacement dial from?
Big Dazza Posted March 16, 2013 Author Report Posted March 16, 2013 I think it comes with a clone or seagull movement for $4xx, dial came with the watch when it was sent to me for modding
panerai153 Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 Back in 2007, there a was a guy named Enzo Progetatto who was selling a few BP and Tournek -Rayville Dials over here on RWG. He made a few dials, mostly as a source of dials for himself. He sold ofv the spares. Never heard from him againi, so I doubt that source is available. i contacted him with the idea odf converting my MK II Stingray to a T-R, somehow that project got sidetracked and I never did it. i really like this watch though, great work, of course the vintage BP dial is much nicer than the sterile dial
Big Dazza Posted March 17, 2013 Author Report Posted March 17, 2013 Yup so nice that I just ordered myself one!
panerai153 Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 What dial are you going to use on yours?
Big Dazza Posted March 17, 2013 Author Report Posted March 17, 2013 Same one as the one I modded, cant wait! oh boy oh boy!
Mike on a bike Posted March 18, 2013 Report Posted March 18, 2013 Daz I have dealt with Dennis R. no problems ,stand up guy and quality work on the watches I bought.
Big Dazza Posted March 18, 2013 Author Report Posted March 18, 2013 Pm me if you need more details dont know if they want it disclosed publicly. But yea Dennis seems a great guy to deal with, answered about a million of my questions
