I always wanted a black PO to keep company to my orange... and this watch looks like a perfect excuse to get one. :)

I'm usually not too crazy about the special edition (007) versions, but I wouldn't mind getting the standard black one with a rubber strap. After all... that's what Bond really wears. :)

Yep, if they only made the rep rubber strap - then the world would be a much safer place; there would be lots of rep 007s around! :)

I tipped off four (yes, four) of our dealers away back in February that the black faced, rubber strapped 45mm Planet Ocean would be in HIGH HIGH demand in November, citing my reasons and passing some of them spy shots off the set of Casino Royale

The dealers I told can stand up to the plate and name themselves if they so wish! They got fair warning.

Now, just stop faffing and get a 22mm rep strap commissioned NOW and watch the cash roll in......

*STOP PRESS*

I have today been informed that the SWAWKF (aka 'strap we all would kill for' :D ) is actually in production!!! :Jumpy:

To satisfy my perfectionism on this (the 187 strap was produced to varying degrees of quality and feel), I have offered to supply exact specs and pics (rubber/silicone composition ratio, embossing, tongue, holes etc.) to ensure it's done right.

10-14 days eta.

p.s. I've never been a fan of the 007 model SMP, but since seeing it in the flesh (and on the wrist) yesterday the CR edition PO is whispering to me softly - must be that extra little symmetrical flash of orange on the sec hand, mmmmm....although I worry my recently arrived new model all-black PO Chrono would get quite jealous

Let's hope that the rep 22MM strap is better quality than the 20MM used in the Asian PO 45MM. The currently available strap feels like plastic almost, has the wrong size indentations and wrong shape holes for the buckle. It also does not have the Planet Ocean markings inside.

I recently got a genuine 22MM rubber strap, and it fits the new 45.5MM/22MM PO perfectly. Really gives the rep a different look. I hope to get the Ultimate Edition PO Black 45.5MM, and will have an almost perfect PO rep. Thou it is a shame that they didn't use the right omega logo shape (the size issue has been corrected but the shape is still wrong. The genuine PO uses an omega logo on the dial without "hooks"), like the one in the 4th Generation 42.5.

I know this little detail is really insignificant, and the chances on being called out on it are almost non-existent; however, to the watch or rep enthusiast as us, it is a little detail that we can identify. I do think however, that this is as good as it wil get. The quality of any subsequent PO 45.5 generation will probably come down, as seen with the SMP.

In any case, for all of us looking for a almost perfect rep, I do think that the Ultimate PO 45.5MM is as good a starting point for mods as any. Just fit a genuine dial (still waiting for someone to tell me were I can source one. Ofrei doesn't seem to have the dial for the 45.5MM), genuine hands, AR crystal and bezel insert, and you will have a rep that can visually fool anyone (of course you will have spent almost US$1000 in the process - don't know if its worth it, maybe it is).

Andrew,

there is something I don't understand. In trustytime you can read: "This product was added to our catalog on Sunday 27 August, 2006" but in Perfect-Clones it's since 23th November. Both look the same

:g:

it is the same, andrew obviously just replaced the last version of his omega photos with these new photos

Have to agree here - the wrong shape of the omega logo is frustrating...

My biggest gripe is the "shade" of orange bezel, it seems a little too dark, and not "metalic" enough. the 4th gen orange bezel was soooo much more accurate! Also, the pearl is too small and placed too low...but that I could deal with.

I was glad to see the orange pin strip on the sides of the black triangle (where the pearl goes) was added in this newest version...

I might have to just go for the black version...

I don't think that the orange color on the bezel is really that big of an issue.

The previous also looked like that on the pics and way better in person.

The only thing that's keeps me from hitting this one right away is the "new" crown.

It was better on the version before.

Maybe Trusty could clear this up if it's only a prototype on the pics

or if this is how they come?

What I also noticed on Andrew's additional pics is the bracelet Ref.Nr on the

endlinks (951) which is now etched instead of stamped. I think this was also the case

on the gen I once tried on at the AD. So this could be added as another improvement.

Andrew,

I thought the gen rubber straps did not fit because to issues on the holes being drilled into the cases at the wrong points?(info from you)

So this is not true after all? They will accept a gen strap like the guy above has done...?

I am so confused?

Chad

Dear ALL,

I replaced all the pictures of the 45mm PO with the latest pictures.

Didnt add in as a new product

But definitely...these are the BEST Omega POs I have touched and seen...

=)

Did you find a gen rubber strap anywhere other than an AD who wants $300?

i mean, HK tan can build a better than gen orange gator for 120ish

I've decided i'm getting a bob orange gator strap (the only one that will work is the breitling deployant model which tapers from 22-18, got my fingers crossed that that won't suck) i might also get an orange nylon from acetimer - only 16 bucks and 6mm thick.

i think an orange carbon fiber would be awesome, i could only find a 24mm one though :(

re: mods - i'd get maybe the AR done, but hands, dial, not worth it IMO

I got the rubber strap on ebay for US$162.50. The strap does fit the new PO 45.5 reps (don`t know about the ultimate edition because I bought mine a 1 week before it came out. I am kind of kicking myself, although the previous 6th generation is still incredible).

The only issue with the fit of the strap is that there is a less than 1mm gap with the case once you put the watch on. Which you really can`t see given the new shape bezel (just like the genuine). I am trying to post some picks, but haven`t been able to. Will keep trying.

In regards to mods, I think that although the AR coating is important, dial and hands are much more likely to be identified as reps, than not having a strong enough AR coating on the crystal. Once again I ask, anybody know where one can get a genuine dial for the 45.5 MM PO? I`ve asked like 10 times and never had an answer.

Genuine Dial....? Anyone....? Bueller.....?

Give it some time buddy, they will show up some day.

Why is everyone talking about the hands? What is wrong with them? They are indeed longer compared to the

previous hands, aren't they? So what else is wrong?

I disagree about the AR not being as important as the hands/dial. That being said, the dial on your 6th gen is flawed, in terms of the Omega logo being way oversized....so I should qualify my comment about the importance of AR by saying that- assuming the dial is "close enough" (which the 4th gen 42mm and this ultimate version are)- then the AR is by far the more significant issue.

I love this watch, but until there's either a relatively cheap aftermarket AR solution available, or the dealers start offering a full AR mod (I've heard that atleast one of them is considering this?), I don't think I'll go for it.

When you see the real watch, you can hardly tell there's a crystal even there- that's how good the double-sided AR is on the gen. People talk about how getting proper lume on their rep is the most important 'flaw' to get corrected. I disagree. If it's night or dark, no one can even see what watch you're wearing, so it's largely irrelevant in that context. Functionally, yes it would be nice, and it's definitely second on the list of improvements- but the AR issue is clearly the biggest issue with reps in my eyes at this point.

It's a very clear difference with some reps. For some, it's not as important- but for this Omega, it's a huge giveaway, IMO.

Gen PO have light AR coating, not that strong like some breitling

Um - no. I happen to have a gen breitling and admire many others. I have never seen AR like the PO. its actually pretty damn impressive.

breits are cool and all, but you find yourself touching the crystal to see if its there :)

It's funny, I was checking out TZ last night, and there are people with Gen PO's that are annoyed about the idea of the AR on the outside of the crystal possibly scratching- so they're buffing it off...and it's kind of ironic, because they're actualy making their gens look more like our reps, while we're trying to get heavier AR, to do the opposite.
