What do you think about this 1680 case?

Hello guys,

I am chasing a nice 1680 or 5513 for a new project.

I would like to get your opinion on this case. Engravings seem to be wrong. What else?

It seems to be fake in my opinion but could be good enough for a Franken?

Are the red and white cases different??? <br /><br />I always assumed they were the same. On the case in question to me the lug holes look a little high maybe an the crystal looks crap too much bevel

I would like to know too? I never knew there were any differences in the 1680 cases, from Red to White.

Since both red & white 1680s use the same (1575) movement, there should not be any difference in case dimensions.

That's not a very interesting specimen IMO.

Looks ok to me other than a few issues. Nice chamfer on the lugs. Should make for a half way decent Franken.

Not 100%, indeed there are two different versions of the 1680 case. One has a groove in the case underneath the retaining ring for a rubber gasket, the other version not. And as far as I know the cases with the groove appeared later with the white dial.

 

However there is no other difference.
