Lol because I thought their crystal is very pure.

Different types of "plastic" have different indexes of refraction.  The higher the index (and arguably the higher the quality) the more the refraction. 

 

So a high quality/index "plastic" will show more "rainbows" due to refraction than a lower quality/index "plastic."

If you have a gen & aftermarket xtal of the same type under the same light, the gen should sparkle more. But basing authentication on light refraction is not a reliable path to follow.

You often ask about sapphire watches, so assumed you ask for a sapphire crystal?

If you meant a plexi then yes they show rainbows like Nanuq and freddy said.

Only if it has an AR coating (the AR refracts the light). The cyclops on my TT GMTIIC has AR & it is the only part where the light refraction creates the rainbow effect

It gets even weirder than this.  It's at the light boundaries where refraction occurs.  So air/glass refracts, then again on the other side where the glass/air interface is.  If you had two layers of glass you'd have refraction as glass/air/glass/air (out the back side).  There are also minor internal refractions from the "inside" face of the glass/air boundary back into the glass.  You can get some crazy moire' patterns that way.

 

Try looking at your crystal under a polarizing filter.  It's better than Andy Warhol and root beer.

Mine is not ar. And yes the rainbow happen inside the crystal and only at the where the crystal and the inner engraving part is

Any glass can break up the light, especially if it has angles at the 45, and the light hits it just right.  You don't need to get a gen crystal for that. 

 

I don't think that even Rolex governs rainbows...LOL.
