icoopernicus
My very first IWC has arrived and I love it. The size is big but not too big which was my biggest fear when ordering the watch. My other fear, the strap quality - it sucks but I can live with it until I can get my hands on a nicer leather strap. On to the eye candy I couldn't wait until tomorrow's Wristies to post something. Hope you all enjoy the pics

higginsd
Yes, the BP! THE watch for real men! ;-) You should do the "DAYSI"-mod. Straps: HKTan has some really nice BP straps. http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=tree&goto=6246599&rid=0#msg_6246599 Scroll down for the BP straps. Or have a look at this thread: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/161079-iwc-5002-big-pilot-alligator-strap-source/ But - the next green strap he'll get is mine, sorry! :-)

markiemark
Nice! Its on my afraid-to-buy list, along with the AP Diver. Both due to the size. Im afraid I can't pull anything off bigger than 44mm (PAM). Wear it in good health!

Archetypal
I bagged the 02 recently. A must have in any mans collection whom is blessed with sufficient wrists to pull one off. An absolute classic piece, congrats on the purchase and obvious joy she is bringing you bro.

glassreplica
Awesome watch and looks amazing with the tattoo! I have been looking at getting one of these for a little while (5004) - this or a bell and Ross vintage. The latter seem to be impossible to find much info on. I have a couple if questions on the IWC.... 1. does the power reserve marker actually function? Whenever I see photos of the 5004 the power reserve is at the one day. 2. Replacing the strap is a must; where have people sourced genuine straps from and is it just the strap that needs replacing or the buckle too? 3. Is it pretty much safe to buy from each of the main rep dealers for this, or are there different versions of the watch? I was thinking josh from PC to be a good source, but if there is an ultimate version out there, it would be great to know before I pull the trigger Thanks in advance and happy new year! higginsd
1. No. No, it is on the 7 day if the movement is wound up. And it is wound up after short wearing, so working PR is useless. The versions with working PR have some big flaws, the biggest is the wrong position of the PR hands! 2. You can order gen straps from every AD. Beware of the price, it will be around 400-450€! The buckle is never included. Gen buckle is around 200-250€ but the rep buckle is OK for the start. 3. All TDs (here or in other forums) are safe to buy from. There are different versions, indeed. Choose the one with faux PR for 238$ like here. All TDs have this version and it is from the same fab. For ultimate versions you have to mod the watch yourself, e.g. gen dial, gen crown/tube, gen date wheel, gen buckle, gen hands, AR, lume and gen or croc strap from a TD strap maker. That's all you can do, gen movements are nearly unavailable.
T222
Sorry, but I don't think the dial on the one you link to is the best one avalible. Look at the 2 little dots besides the Triangle. They are to small. The most correct version of this watch has to be the BP version. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm thinking of this one: http://www.torobravos2013.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=56_133&product_id=
higginsd
You're right, these dots are too small. But: I think these are old pictures, the actual version of the 5004 delivered should have the correct dots. I didn't recognize this flaw until now because I choose the "better" BP, the 5002. glassreplica
Awesome advice and responses. Thank you. Accuracy is definitely more important than the working PR. Are there any good rep straps out there as $400 is quite steep unless it really makes the watch perfect. I had not heard of torobravo as a dealer; are they any good and well known? I was looking at perfect clones. Happy try another if they have a better model. I would like to get the quality and accuracy as good as possible. Thanks in advance
T222
Regarding a good Strap, this may be a good link ...? http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/161079-iwc-5002-big-pilot-alligator-strap-source/ I have not contacted him yet, but I'm really temted to. I would love a great Strap for my 5004 and 5002!
