K12AN
Hi I was wondering if anyone services reps independently (and reliably) in China? The Asian 7750 movement is extremely popular and many experienced collectors in this forum have advised that watches are cleaned and serviced to increase the durability and reliability of the movement. This sounds great, but if I were to do this in the UK, it would cost more than the watch - IF I can even find a watch maker/repairer who will work on reps. Given the concentration of dealers and factories in China - I'm surprised that there aren't several reliable companies which specialise in servicing and repairing replica's? I for one would be happy to purchase a watch from a TD and then pay extra to have it serviced (by a reliable source) for a fee - then have it shipped to me. I assume it could be done a lot more cost effectively in China than in Europe, US, Australia etc. Is this something which is offered? I am fairly new, so perhaps I'm missing something? If this isn't offered, then surely there is a big gap in the market for this service? Regards Kiran
pcardoza
The TD can make this happen for a fee, when you purchase the watch. HOWEVER, there is some risk involved on your part as to whether or not it actually gets done!

I'd hope that there would be some pictures or proof to back this up if we're paying for it? Has anyone actually had this done?
Nightwatch
The word lies in "reliably". There is no "reliable" servicing, not even "waterproofing" over there and the prices are European style. For fun You can check Trustys offerings with that added service but I wouldn´t use it, just buy normally and service locally, there are lots of options through the forums. My tendency goes more towards buying a new movement (cousins.uk or similar) and dropping it in - assembled in a quality environment.
K12AN
Thanks Nightwatch - this is taken from Trusty site (I assume others can get similar services). Surely there would be proof that this 'service' was actually undertaken. I'd hope for at least some before, during and after photos.. If this were the case, I'd definitely be adding this to my purchases! Scope of work done Waterproofing : Additional seals are add on and watch is pressure tested to 5 bars (50m waterproofing) Movement is completely overhaul and re-assembled, serviced and re-lub with 5 different types of Swiss imported movement lubricant, Calibration to +5 secs per day. Above scope of works is carry out by Swiss trained Technicians.
martijnp
You are London based, why don't you let a London based or EU based (for example SSTeel) service your A7750?
astonjenks
Agreed with Martijn above, Do Not send to China for servicing or pay the additional cost before shipping as many, many things can and do happen. I use Mickey all the time SSTEEL who is a UK based in Finland and he is brilliant! AJ
markiemark
I'd rather pay more and get my sh*t done by someone who knows what he's doing... Dutch saying: goedkoop is duurkoop! K12AN
To be honest, I've had real difficult in finding people to service reps. My first rep was a Hublot BB (V1.5 I think) - which I bought from M2M for very cheap. It was 2007 made - so literally stopped working around a month ago. I could actually see a screw which was free and rolling around through the caseback. As I paid so little for it - and there was now a more accurate version available, I was not preparted to pay around £200 to service/repair it. I only had the one rep - so I know new that I love wearing the watch and was prepared to spend some money to buy a newer version for only a little bit more. I opened up the case myself and inevitably the watch is no longer working and it has been written off - lesson learned So, I now want to buy an AP. These are more expensive, and I want to have it serviced to make sure that the movement is as good as it can be. I really struggled to get a list of reliable and trustworthy servicers in Europe. From what I've heard, they take weeks (or months) to return watches? Would love some contacts if you could list please...for future reference. If this could be done at the source of buying it - it would be much easier and better for me. How much is a service of a 7750 movement here (approx). GenTLe
I'd suggest you PM SSTEEL and ask him, he is one of the very best. AJ Yes, and the prices are not like 220£... His official price list (last I've seen) was 100€ for standard service and 135€ for chrono

lukenorris2011
I'll also put my word too that. SSTEEL is a no nonsense, trustworthy watchmaker. And he's forever taking pictures and uploading them, so you, yourself can see what he has/is doing! Life's a [censored], then you marry one!
