REP REVIEW: AP Ladies Quartz ref. 67651ST.ZZ.1261ST.01

Hey guys,

** I posted this awhile ago on another forum but completely slipped my mind to share it here as well! Thanks to Legend for reminding me! **

After drooling on pictures on other threads, I finally convinced my wife that she NEEDS an AP Ladies Quartz ref. 67651ST.ZZ.1261ST.01

This is by far THE BEST ladies rep from our Chinese friends and I have the say both me and my wife were stumped with the quality of it!

Just as a background behind the hunt for this piece - the mrs has wrists akin to those of a Somalian kid (5.25"), it was almost impossible find a piece that sat nicely on her wrists and one that she liked too!

Having bought too any gens for her, it was time to introduce her to the world of reps. (and a perfect excuse for me to buy more reps)

Before the review, allow me to give props to the source, TD Lion City Watches aka TimeWillTell aka John. He managed to source this piece easily and even brought in a rare rose gold version of the watch! Abit of teething issues to begin with but once the mural trust was established, dealing was a breeze, I guess that's pretty normal in this line of hobby.

On to the piece.

In celebration of it's 40th anniversary of the Royal Oak collection, Audemars Piaget in 2012 launched seven iconic new pieces which followed the design codes of its origins - the crowd pleasing octagonal design coupled with slim profile, these were well received by the masses. Amongst them and being in relevance to our rep hobby were:

- Royal Oak Tourbillion

- Royal Oak ref 15400

- Royal Oak ref 67651ST.ZZ.1261ST.01

Whilst there are plenty of reviews on the former 2, the latter, has (until recently) been less covered, and in fact there have been few ladies reps that have been this accurately replicated.

The ladies quartz was produced in a sleek 33mm case and only 7mm thick, it was a perfect dress watch which exudes elegance.

Some specs from AP's website:

When the watch arrived I was amazed by the quality of it, and how closely replicated this is! The finishing is amazing, tapisserie dial very gen like and bracelet whilst abit stiff, sits comfortably on small wrists!

Whilst I mentioned in other threads that the first mod that I would do would be to replace the diamonds in the bezel but I'm glad to say it's not necessary at all!

Obligatory wrist shot of the Mrs:

After the mrs went to bed, I started to get to work and stripped the watch down to see whatever possessed the factories in china to think that this quartz was worth as much as an automatic watch! (Pardon the pink cloth, it was lying around close by so it did the job)

All in all, it's an amazing rep for ladies and definitely one my wife loves!

Thanks for the great review and photos. Amazingly (And maybe not, because who understands women!!), women pretty much like quartz watches over mechanical. I believe it is the "grab and go" theory. they aren't that interested in watches, have no desire to learn all the ins and outs of mechanical movements, etc. They want it to be ready when they are, slip it on, and get moving. Don't have to worry about setting the time and date, except months not ending in 31 and start and end of DST. Maybe I'm painting them with a broad brush, but my wife much prefers her quartz watches to mechanical.

This is a very nice dressy watch that I believe most women would love. Very nice!!

That's nice! My wife has a gen ladies Royal Oak. From memory it's 28mm, like yours it's a Quartz movement and whilst hers is stainless and gold, there otherwise seems little difference! Maybe time for her to be introduced into reps!

Are there any tells with this one, I'm considering picking this one up. My misses currently has a Ballon Blue which is near perfect! I wonder how close this one is to Gen. Any ideas?

It is very, very close. Probably one of the best AP reps.

My wife has the gold version on a brown gator, and the "diamonds" look really good.

It's very hard to photograph diamonds to capture the sparkle and light.

+1. Under the correct lighting, they ARE diamonds. And nobody who sees them would think any different. ;)

Can you post a pic of your wifes gold version on gator?  This might be a better option if someone decides to swap a different custom leather band.
