Good lord, I can't believe they're even bothering to list that thing for sale in that condition.

my bad, let my 2 day old kid do the job on this one, with his feet and eyes closed, thought it was a good idea at the time....... hehehe, oh wait, i dont have kids

jeeeesus, what a waste, shame, and the nerve that they would actually try to sell that piece of sh*t.

Well that watch looks like a $5 Chinatown special.

Looks to be about the same quality as the one you had to recently fix for Arthur :yuk:

Hehe. Yea, I think I might know who performed that job!!! :yucky:

Crayons and a spatula is very possible. But my money is on cupcake frosting and LSD.

Wow... I could do a better job than that and I'm only just starting the TZ level one course...

Thats is truly disturbing...

But I can now say, I've got a rep vintage sub that makes at least one gen look like pooh.

OK, obviously a HORRID job, but the watch is not too badly priced is it? I mean if you would re-lume the horrible job they did the actual case, bezel and (I am guessing) movement might be worth the money... or maybe not.

The moment it was relumed, the dial is no longer considered 100% original. It is now tampered with and collectors do not desire pieces like this; only original tritium will do for them, and since it's the collectors who are buying and paying the prices for these pieces...

Out of curiosity, would there be anyway to 'restore' that dial? Or with the horrible relume job is it pretty much ruined?

Right, I know what you are saying ubiquitous but isn't this watch priced MUCH lower than a version with a good dial? I know a collector would never want this watch, even if it were re-lumed but it seems like for about 6K (after a new redial job) someone could have a really cool watch that is less than half od what an all original dial version would sell for. Maybe I have my prices out of whcak though, I thought a gen "James Bond" in good condition was around 12K or so.

tvt- Indeed, you are correct; for the money, this could be a very nice watch, especially if the dial was relumed correctly (ziggy wuld be the only one I'd trust with this job, BTW). Not exactly one that I would consider an investment piece, though who knows? Pricing and value, even with a relumed dial, may go up to a point where one could fetch a nice return on it someday :)

At any rate... Pricing is a bit on the low end- I've seen a few of these in the $7k range up to $12k or so; with one of the $7k examples, the dial was original, but with the marker lume in poor condition. I imagine that someone just getting into vintage collecting may be tempted enough to buy, or perhaps someone who is more interested in the watch for what it is, vs. how collectible it could be...
