Champagnesky
Hi! What do you think of this 6542 case, gen or rep?
denimhead
Any chance of some close up shots of the lug engravings? It does look a bit too 'new' given its supposed age Also a close up of the underside of the crown. Is it wrapped?
lukenorris2011
Looks good, but I'll say rep just because what denimhead mentioned. Overall appearance, lines, bevels look way to "new." Sure one of the pros will come along and confirm for you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
JoeyB
There was a guy offering 'new ' 6542 cases on Ebay and on his own website a few years ago. I can't remember his name. I figured they were reps.
mini167
I think it's rep because the case looks new.
Nanuq
I have to call REP on this case. Here is a 6536/1 case, proven to be from 1958. I'm no genius but I'd guess Rolex would use VERY similar cases for the 6536/1 and the 6542. There might be subtle differences but the overall dimensions should be very similar. Compare your photos to mine. Specifically look at the distance on the back from the crown to the "lip" where it bumps up to meet the caseback Mine is very narrow and yours is very wide. Also look at the side opposite the crown: from the edge of the case to the "lip" should be VERY narrow. Unless the caseback on the 6542 is much smaller than the 6536/1, the case is much bigger than mine. I doubt that, because the 1030 and 1065 movements are the same ligne and so will come out through the same size hole.

I wonder if that could be a yuki case?
