Question about a tube for 5513 case. Help request.

Gentlemen,

I am modding 5513 cartel case, want to get a tube from CousinsUK, however, they offer two types of 700 tubes, one is short the other long, which one is appropriate for 5513 given that I will install a gen, or athaya crown on this case. Thanks in advance.

PS. I am in the EU so it is more convenient to get it from the UK, hence, my first choice is cousins.

the 7mm tubes listed on that page is only the 703-0 tube (which only accept 703 or 704 crowns)..   you cannot install a gen 700 nor athaya 700 (twinlock) crown on a 703-0 (triplock) tube.

if you want to install a 700 crown, you will need a 700-0 tube.

Thank you Gentlemen!

So cousinsuk does not offer any tubes for 5513 build for 703 crown.

The reason that I tried with cousins is because I'm in the EU, any package outside of the EU with a value more than 20 euros gets stopped by the customs.

Athaya 702 tube will screw right into the latest cartel case with no mods. The Athaya 702 clutch spring sucks. It will fail. I bought about 5 of them and they all crapped out. They look nice though.

The good thing is if you ever get a gen 702, the athaya tube is great!

No. The 703-0 tubes that cousins has is fine(correct) for a 5513 if you want to use a 703 crown. Depends on how period -correct you want to be.

1960's 5513's used 700-0 tubes. Early-mid '70's used 702-0 tubes, and late 70's-late '80's used 703-0 tubes.

Same thing happened with two TC crowns I used on projects. Threads are fine, high quality fit and finish but the spring got weak in no time. They will not extend after unscrewing from the tube and you have to pull out on the crown to keep it in gear to set the time. I have a few more but have used only two so far. All are new, not used. They might all be from the same 'factory'. The upside is it makes it easier to start the crown on the case tube threads.

Here is a real bargain with a hellofa guarantee:

  • NO ITEM CAN BE RETURNED
  • ALL SALES ARE FINAL

I finally realized this is what happened to my 5513 project!  I thought my keyless works were screwed but then I realized that if could play with the crown and finally still set the time. I can't believe how fast the clutch spring failed on the Athaya 702.  I only had the watch a short time when this happened and I rarely set the time.  I keep my watch water proof by testing and then not changing time unless I have no choice.  I set my ETA based 5513 build crown "up" to slow it down at night so I don't have to change time much.  When the time changed last year, I went to change the time and the clutch spring was already failed. I think mine failed instantly!
