PCG 5513 Project - V2 Complete

Come on....this is getting ridiculous with these builds. My interpretation: "Hey guys let me show you these pictures of my build of parts you will never find a single one of let alone all of them in one place. But don't worry, I have them all and assembled them into a watch that will make you hate every watch you own. Here look, look look at these pictures in super high resolution taken with my 40 million mega pixel camera with all the perfect angles and lighting. That's right, breath it in. Scroll through each one and open them all up individually and zoom in and really appreciate how amazing what I have done is. Now stare down at the crappy TC on your wrist which you thought was cool because you added a gen insert. Can you feel what I'm feeling...that's right, your watch sucks, it's a turd."

:-) I don't even know what else to say dbane. That thing is like staring at Jessica Simpson pictures from the Dukes of Hazzard movie. (Note no other pictures of JS just those). I'm in awe and envy of what you've created. It's freakin art not a watch.

This!!

a watch is meant to be worn

Quick update.

I've been wearing this 5512 with a genuine 7206 rivet bracelet with a "66" stamped clasp. That was only meant to be temporary as I'm saving that one for a future '66 Bart dial 5513.

So l've recently acquired a mint condition "62" stamped 7206 bracelet that now more accurately matches the serial date range of my case as well as the caseback. Now this project is complete complete. Really.

I know it may be correct and everything, but honestly now... What did Rolex think when they designed those end pieces?

Yeah, is that the look the gen would have had?

No...  as the bracelet is worn over 40 decades, the top portion of the endlink wears out and effectively get "shorter".. so to prevent the gap that developes between the endlink curvature and the rounded portion of the mid-case, the endlink can be squeezed so they dont rattle around.  it results in the top of the endlink now rubbing on a lower portion of the inside of the lugs.. This is how/why the lug engravings get worn out over time.  This wear can be reduced by placing a bit of clear tape between the lugs.

When brand new, the endlinks would typically fit quite well when adjusted properly:

40 decades?  That's a long time. ;)

Sometimes endlinks wear so much that they cannot be squeezed tight to prevent rattle.  When you can see daylight through them, it's time to think about replacements.
