flavor flav
looks like ofrei sells 2 straps for the PO. 20mm and 21mm. now, i measured the width of my steel gen bracelet and it's 21.916mm. i wonder if the rubber should be 21mm? will this work? it's 169+20 for the buckle. not too bad really. i'll get it if it will fit. does anyone know if the gen rubber strap should be 22mm on the 45.5mm PO or 21mm????? bbob
How many threads will it take for dealers to wake up and see that a 22mm rubber po strap would be a an easy thing to make a buck on? come on already!!!!!! Sure but do you want to wear that rubber. I do some work on rubber formula's and i can tell you 1 thing. Rubber is not always rubber. There are many additives that are harmfull to your body. Normally rubber has plasticizers in them, DOP is a common one (cheap) but is not good for your health. Rubber have accellerators in them and most set free nitrosamines that are to cause cancer. Low nitrosamine rubber like being used in baby stuff is more expensive. Since a rubber strap is always in contact with your skin you will get migration of these additives into your skin. Although you will not die from them some rubbers are not good for you.

docblackrock
But rumor has it there will be soon, along with the Casino Royale PO version....but when and which dealer is involved ? More than rumour. Did Admin delete the search button during the upgrade? C'mon it's been posted already.... As to the poster who talked about the rubber, yes indeed that will be interesting - the gen (22mm) rubber strap has a silicone component to it giving it a silky soft feel unlike the rep (20mm) SMP rubber strap. Also watermarks and dust disappear from the gen strap whereas they lingered like the plague on the rep version.
Chronus
How good is the 20mm rep rubber straps ? I was considering them, but not sure how good they are. A genuine DOXA rubber strap for 20mm is around $50 with shipping, and seeing the rep ones for $35, I would expect good quality out of them. Are they worth getting ? I would have liked one of each, black and orange... but if it is not too great...? Forgot to add, using the rubber strap possibly during swimming or showers too! bbob
bbob>> Interresting facts! You learn something everyday... Yes many people just think rubber is rubber and that's it. Most rubbers have sulfer in the, needed to cure but also zinc oxide to cure. There are many more additives that are harmfull but who would test these for a rubber strap ? For baby stuff things are tested more. There is aslo rubber with special formulation for contact with food. Now I don't know if gen supplier that sell rubber straps test for these thing or if they just buy them from a source and the is it. I would not wear a rubber strap, specially in summer when it gets hot and additives could migrate easier into your body. http://www.dermnetnz.org/dermatitis/rubber...nt-allergy.html a link with some info Edited January 9, 2007 by bbob

thelawnmowerman
I bought the rep for the 42mm and couldnt make it fit properly, its not bad quality but it doesnt fit right at the lugs, So I ordered the gen and it came today ,I 've just finished fitting it and its totally different , really nice. Firstly it fits right and doesnt move around, Secondly it says Planet Ocean on the inside of the strap, the rep doesnt, thirdly ,it has a brushed buckle ,the rep has a chrome one, lastly the holes that the pin buckle locate into are a different shape , they are narrower and longer , but more importantly the they are angled to the same angle as the pin. I'm really pleased with it .
