Physher007
In my search for a true beater watch, I decided to buy a sub. I put out a request for a sub in any condition. I ended up buying this one for $50.00 shipped. Here's what i was told was done to it. Well that's the best I can figure - seeing as RBJ wont tell me what he did to it and the owner doesn't seem to know. 1. King's sub 2. RBJ did some cosmetic modding: reworked CG's but not to genuine specs, greased up the O-rings in the crown/tube and under the caseback 3. Pressure tested it; realign crystal; did some cleaning; tighten up bezel 4. re-align rep insert The seller told me he paid around $600.00 for this sub. Is it worth it? You tell me. Also, it should be noted that when I bought this watch it would not auto-wind. Or, so it was described. When I opened the package the watch was running fine, but it was clear that the movement wasn't secured in the case. I took the watch to my smith and he told me that one of the clamps was missing, allowing one half of the movement to swing free. The previous owner assured me that he never opened the watch. What does this mean?? Anyway. Here are the pics:
cib0rgman
I guess you got what you paid for, what do you expect for $50.00. Unless I am missing something. I do not see the point on this thread. Regards

I ended up buying this one for $50.00 shipped. I'm confused.......are you asking was it worth the $50.00....I say yes, but not a penny more. Here's what i was told was done to it. Well that's the best I can figure - seeing as RBJ wont tell me what he did to it and the owner doesn't seem to know. 1. King's sub 2. Now, are you looking for folks to rubbish on RBJ's work and service........won't happen. RBJ does great work and even the best have less than perfect results on occaision. Besides, a he said - he said argument does no good. You paid for and got a $50.00 watch. If you want to sell it, I'll give you $49.99 for it.....after all, it is slightly used. You tell me. Also, it should be noted that when I bought this watch it would not auto-wind. Or, so it was described. deltatahoe
from the pictures, looks like most of the damage is on the insert.....get yourself a new insert and that watch will look 5x better...
Mickey Padge
To me it looks like only the upper CG was opened up a bit. The lower CG stil looks stock, and is covering the crown much more. As mentioned, pick up a insert and maybe a nato strap and you are good to go.....
alligoat
Hopefully your watchsmith replaced the movement tab when he looked at the watch- it's an easy fix and I've had two tabs break on me in different watches- both ETA's. BTW, you don't say what movement you have in there. Also, I'm with everyone else, put a new aftermarket bezel insert on there and I'd say you got a pretty good deal. It's a beater, just like you say. I think the cg's look fine, I just think it's the angle of the camera making the bottom cg look more angular.
Physher007
A few more pics since some people enjoy patronizing a man for taking poor shots. @cib0rgman - the purpose of this thread was to see if there is any reasons someone should pay 600.00 for this watch. It was also to point out that the person who modified the watch left out a tab. A pretty serious mistake if you ask me. @alligoat - yes he did. and now it works wonderfully. Oh, and I am not sure how I double posted this. I appologize
Mickey Padge
The CG's look better in that new picture, it must have been the angle the photo was taken. The date mag is too far to the right, but that's a common flaw. You got a great deal, if you get the recommended parts, your laughing....
eunomians
I like the beat up bezel. It gives the watch a good "used" look. Loose the spring bars and get 2mm OEM bars.
