Most of the PAMs I see have leather or rubber straps....why aren't the SS bracelets more popular?

Also, do the gens come with tang buckles as well as deployant releases for their leather/rubber straps, or only one or the other?

Not sure about the answer to your gen buckle question, but the popularity of a strap over the bracelet is that the strap is a bit more refined. You can get a lot of different watches with a bracelet, but the PAM strap at 24mm is a thing of beauty because it allows you to personalize your watch.

Climb on.

I agree that the straps let you add your own flavor to the watch. The Pams are like chameleons in that respect.

However, I get the most comments on my 063 that I put on a SS bracelet. Like a giant fishing lure.

I'm a fan of bracelets, got the one that came with the 192, and also got one on the 029 that I'm wearing at the moment :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Cos the SS bracelets are really showy and intrusive and to be honest really gaudy.

I am not a fan, gimme a lovely looking leather strap anyday.

personally, a 44m Pam with bracelet is too showy. Too much steel. I have a 40mm Pam (regatta) with the bracelet and that's right on the edge.

I think straps are classier.

I tried a PAM on a bracelet once... I could never get it to fit right. Either too tight or too loose. Even with the half links. But, I've found this to be the case on a lot of bracelets out there... Not just Panerai.

Guess I'm just used to the micro adjustment on those cheap flimsy Rolex clasps

Well ...individual preference...I like both...but its true the SS bracelet is more showing...its like showing your PAM to the MAX...but with strap ..you can have a different strap for different mood and day...so enjoy your PAM on your lovely day gents..

I was not a big fan of bracelets untils I saw the movie where Pierce Brosnan wears one, it maybe that is different to see one "almost in person" than just pictures. I wonder now what is the best source for a bracelet, any dealer in particular?

Bump .... for everybody who got his PAM GMT from Eddie (with 2893) to check:

- that the GMT is in sync with the main hour hand.

My only ss bracelet is broken. No more bracelet for me.

I have many nice leather/croc straps but sometimes I just like the workout of a 44mm on SS.

It's gets many compliments, fits my wrist perfectly with 7 links on one side and 6 1/2 on the other. Actually fits better than my rubber with deploy and some of my leathers.

I'm a big guy and demand a big watch ;)

I can pull off the 196 no problem, but with the SS bracelet it is definitely VERY bling bling. I put the bracelet on when I am heading out to some sort of upscale restaurant/bar/show in Chicago, but for day to day wear I have a smokin carbon fiber strap that absolutely compliments the 196 perfectly. My SS bracelet gets maybe 5% wrist time max...

As far as the Buckles and deploys, Panerai kinda sets that.... They pair certain models with certain buckles... Then the rep makers usually follow that to keep them close to the current models...

Hey Estaban,

Glad to see that the link worked out for you on that bracelet!

i like my 40mm 51 on the bracelet, but i with it were more accurate--it should taper in the middle and then taper back out @ the buckle end, and should be more agressively brushed as per the OEM. Anyone know if any of the aftermarket bracelets have the taper?
