ajoesmith Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Ive just received the IWC 3717 pilot and have to say its a beauty, maybe the nicest watch i have and seen!!!!! I bought the slow beat version as i wanted to swap the movement to a ETA 7750 as the hand sizes are the same. Well ive just opened the case back to check that the movement was a slow beat (also did a sound check prior to opening and it sounded slow as well) movement and, well, it looked different to other slow beat 7750 movements i have. On the old style 7750 all the 'plates' on the movement are shiny and pretty badly finished. I think The Zigmeister refers to them as it looked as if someone had ice skated ovr the top of them. Anyway this slow beat has different coloured plates. Looks the same kind of plates as the new asian fastbeat movement. Also some of the parts are different. I cant explain it but its not the same movement. Maybe The Zigmeister can comment as maybe he has swapped some of these slow beat IWC's for ETA Has anyone else noticed this?? Sorry about the pics, to compenste for this ive included a nice bird! as well as everyone looking at my avatar! NOTE the movement in the case is what i think a new old style asian 7750. THe movement on it own outside the case is the old style.
ajoesmith Posted July 10, 2007 Author Report Posted July 10, 2007 my pics arnt showing up, anyone know why?? Im using photobucket like i always do. hmmmmmmmmmmm
Richard Tracy Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Thanks for the report Joe,..and Contrats,... Which collector did your piece come from ?
Mickey Padge Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Pictures not working, try http://imageshack.us/ Always works for me Interested in seeing the movement too.
eunomians Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Yup, the pics are not showing up for some reason. I would like to see these detailed pics Cheers
ajoesmith Posted July 12, 2007 Author Report Posted July 12, 2007 OK photobucket still isnt working but i used imageshack to upload pics. Can you see the difference?
yellomen Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 are u serious? You are telling us there's a new slow beat 7750 based on a different color in plates? Are there some movement differences compared to other 21k beat mvts?
eunomians Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 I hope that there is a new slow beat 7750 with the reliability and nice build quality as the fast beat 7750. This would be a real treat in this day & age.
ajoesmith Posted July 21, 2007 Author Report Posted July 21, 2007 are u serious? You are telling us there's a new slow beat 7750 based on a different color in plates? Are there some movement differences compared to other 21k beat mvts? ah no From what i can see is that yes, the plates are different, so maybe there is a nonther factory producing the slow beat 7750 movement. Im sorry about the pics, my camera has a macro focus distance of 15cm - crap!! Ive looked very closely and the overall finish is definitely much, much better than the other one in the picture. Fingers crossed its reliable
mezzanine Posted July 21, 2007 Report Posted July 21, 2007 It would be awesome if there was a good slow-beat 7750. The new asian 7750 is not as bad as I think the folklore has suggested, in terms of reliability. There is really no other option for the Chinese manufacturers to pony up and put some effort into their movement construction, etc... with the ETA's becoming overpriced and discontinued. I have an old-school Breitling Chrono Avenger Ti that would be up for a new movement if this was to be true...current one has been fine, but rather than pay 300 bucks for a swiss, 100 would be a good option that would make the replacement economical.
watcher Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 I've just received a 3717 with slow beat as I intend ripping it out in favour of a swiss 7750 and have also noticed the finish is much better than the old ones. You know it's the old 21600 as soon as you push the chrono button though!! jerky!! Just need the movement now!!
