ryaku Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 We all know what we're talking about but a couple of pics can help the most careless of us Be careful, genuine pics .... 3717: Saint Exupery: I love mine 3717 but after seeing the Exupery i'm considering a new purchase...
TeeJay Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Personally, I'd go for the 3717 but put it on a leather strap
jkerouac Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 I would opt for the gold case version of the St. Exupery..... but not at the premium prices currently being asked for this version.
eunomians Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 3717 all the way for me. Who would wear a Petit Prince watch? Not me
jeff g Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 The 3717 ALL THE WAY....best looking dial on the planet.
Rxus Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Agreed, i have recently seen such an abundance of 3717 pics. Like Pugwash with the ETA wheels swap..OMG what a nice looking watch, oh and defintely on leather..
Guest Sql_pl Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 3717. Hate those shiny subdials of the Exupery. Remind me of asian 21j reps....
robertk Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 well.......I went for the st.exupery because of it's distinctive design as opposed to the 3717, which is great, but looks so much like every other IWC.
bosk Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 well.......I went for the st.exupery because of it's distinctive design as opposed to the 3717, which is great, but looks so much like every other IWC. Ditto...I went for the st exuprey as well....the brown dial is awesome and I already have several black faced chronos. -bosk

cornerstone Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 That sub-dial at 9 should be brown on the SS Exupery is that right? But it's correct for the rose gold I think. Gen: It is a very interesting piece...I could be tempted.
robertk Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 500 were made with the three subdials in white/silver. These are white gold models, so the three white/silver subdials are accurate. It's a rarer model. Truth is, no one excluding IWC dealers (who stock them), will ever question it, rare as it is. it's a very attractive, distinctive look, and my watchmaker (who sees all my reps) was awed by it.
Jawo Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 3717 for sure. I bought an ETA movement from ebay that's getting sent off to The Zigmeister for a transplant and relume. I also ordered a gator strap from HkTan. The Exupery looks great, but I can't seem to get over that crappy date font. The fact that the caseback has a #1 serial also screams rep to me.
blh96 Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 Saint Exupery: I like the chocolate. I have seen caseback with #8 on ss
Richard Tracy Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 It's Hard to find a good brown dial watch,.. and they look great with certain clothes,... If I had to choose one,.. I just couldn't,.. would have to have both !
cornerstone Posted July 20, 2007 Report Posted July 20, 2007 500 were made with the three subdials in white/silver. These are white gold models, so the three white/silver subdials are accurate. Genius thinking!! Or maybe it's the one platinum version!! The watch deserves a fantastic strap to go with it.
