380-400 would be crazy.....

crazy, pretty much like the most super reps...I think even the EOD price is crazy...but I bought it cause I like it...the other part of the story is that I won't have anything to eat for the next month...but hey that's my problem....this is a new form of diet...you buy an expensive watch...then you don't have $ to buy the food...and you go down with weight...and have a nice watch....

380-400 is crazy.. i mean this is kind of making me sick now.. that the newer watches coming out are in the areas of 400$.. i mean SUPER reps usually costs in the 300 region last yr and now it increases by 100? and wat i dont get is why ppl are still on the cartels side.. :S.. wats gonna happen next yr? it'll increase to 500? then 600? then it'll be the same price of the gen? :S

i guess.. but what i dont get is.. the quality of the super reps arent even that much better from last yr.. i mean movement is the same material is the same.. AR is the same.. why do they have to mark up so much? i just dont think that if it goes above 400.. i can afford reps anymore.. which is a dissapointment because i love reps.. i love watches.. and yeh.. meh

Sadly these prices are part of the reason I started buying used genuines. It hardly makes sense owning a few reps when for the same price I can spend time tracking down a good deal on a second hand watch and then sell it when I get bored and start all over again.

When you consider I recently bought an Omega 2531.80 for $780 which I'll easily make my money back on when I'm bored with it the wisdom of so called 'super reps' is marginal. Unless of course you're talking about a watch you could never possibly afford to own even second hand like a Royal Oak..........

lol i think thats wat hes saying.. coz most super reps are repping the cheaper models anyway.. hes saying that rather than getting a super rep he prefers used gen.. unless its something like the AP royal oak in which case even the used gen is far more expensive than a rep.. and if u think about it for models like these there is hardly any super reps.. so the reps for these models are cheaper :)

i hear you to a certain degree, but don't forget that we have a similar second-hand market for reps....you could just as easily wait and pick up a used aquatimer on the trading board (at a similar discount in terms of percentage of original cost) and be able to resell it and recoup your costs....

Initially I disagreed with this notion....being that the best gens that are under $1000 aren't all that appealing to me, outside of an SMP or Sinn. But the more I see of the trend in pricing, the more I'm inclined to side with your rationale. It's the re-sale value. You never know what the market is going to be like for reps in a couple of years.

I have avoided buying the SFSO because of this exact fact. Even though the rep is fantastic, it's approximately 25% of the gen. I agree with the notion of buying superreps if they're watches you really like, and are over 5000 bucks.

Pug, I'd be shocked if it's under 300. I expect it will be around 300, but doubt that it will come out under that mark. If it does, I'll regret my recent Cousteau purchase.

Many are loyal to the dealer even if they are overpriced in comparison to another dealer.

Don't forget that many dealers don't seem to be getting these newer reps, like the Cousteau etc.

First of all I'm not saying reps aren't great. As far as I'm concerned something like a noobmariner gives a fair amount of the bang for a small proportion of the bucks. However when we are getting to the point where I could choose to buy a secondhand gen for a few times the price of a 'super-rep' I have to ask myself the question would I be better off with the gen.

As for our used reps here secondhand prices seem to be running at a similar level to 'collectors' from our EU members. I think I'm one of the few who gave a 25% discount on used but good condition watches when I came to sell.......

not sure i understand what you are trying to say here...

are you saying used reps do or don't retain their value very well? if reps do retain their value (our trading board would seem to indicate they do), this makes your "i have started buying used gens b/c i can resell them and recoup the cost" argument moot....

What I'm saying is that reps DO hold their value well-if you pick the right ones but that I'd rather own genuine pieces than replicas if they only cost twice the price. Also a used genuine watch that has done most of it's depreciating is a commodity that's more easily saleable outside specialist boards like this.

Don't get me wrong I'm still a fan of reps when they are priced right- ultimate PO at $250 for example but when you start getting to and surpassing the $400 mark the logic is starting to stretch a little....

i think we're on the same page febus....at this point i'm really happy w/ my rep collection; i can't see myself buying more than a couple reps in the foreseeable future. instead i'll be saving up for a jlc reverso squadra hometime....i'm just hoping i have the self control to wait a while before purchasing it....

Actually, with the exception of the Breitlings I thought that the trend on these super reps were to copy more expensive pieces. HBB's start at $7,000 used. CD's sell for $6,000 consistently. Upcoming Big Pilot sells for $10,000. Breitlings are the ones I never understood. They just happen to be very popular and people want to spend $300-400 not $1,500-$2,000.

Before we start ranting that this is too expensive, how about we wait for its price to be announced? I bet it's under $300.

lol theres a possibility coz my dealer said that it'll be cheaper than the cousteau.. AND SFSO wasn't that expensive.. PLUS tag aquaracer (same movement, and same AR) only costs 280.. so puggy.. i hope ur right!!! and if ur.. i promise ill give u a hug ok? :p coz i really hope itll be under 300.. i really want this watch so much :(
