2893 Datewheels

Recommended Posts

Well ladies (and Gentlemen - if there are any!) as you probably know I have been working on various things not least of which is the datewheel for the venerable 2893 series reps. You might also be aware of the various problems with doing the 7753 wheels - well not any more!

I can source the datewheels in advance and, as you know, I have found a printer that has a Swiss made high end pad printing machine. This is exactly the sort of machine that ETA etc use so the results are almost guaranteed!! The printers will pretty much be doing all the artwork (I have kickstarted it but they will fine tune it) and will make a metal jig to hold the wheel in the correct position for printing. This was the fundamental problem with the first 7753 wheel printer; he used a traditonal screen which distorts during printing but a pad printer does not suffer this problem.

The company is a specialist dial and instrument printer and are already familiar with the various ETA movts, so the 2893 is a "walk in the park" as their director said to me.

Having given this a glorious intro (I hope to Christ they're good!!!!) I really need to have some idea of numbers to know how many to order up.

Cost wise they will work out at $50 + post (about $10) - slightly more than the 7753 as I am buying the wheels up front. I am hoping that this will take around 3-4 weeks to have ready for shipping out but a lot depends on Cousins having enough stock of them initially (I suspect they might have to be ordered from ETA so could take some time).

Please do not PM me at this stage - just a note here is enough until I post an update.

Great, I have an 029 and 063 I'll want them for. With the cyclops on order too :thumbsupsmileyanim:

I'll also get an 028 2893 Power Reserve, if you are still doing anything with PVD? I'll need a datewheel for that one too.

If you have any datewheels for the 188 and 196 let me know too.

All will need reluming too. Should i get davidsen's hands for the 188 ?

Small update here - the wheels will take about 4 weeks to come as a special order. I am considering what quantity to buy but it looks like 75 might be a good starting point!!! Keep them orders coming!!

One small thing - the dollar is bouncing around all over the place at the moment (good time to buy reps UK people!!) so I'm going to have to ask for payment in UK sterling please - £40 inc post.

Thanks Finepics, that sounds great...when do you want the paypals??

And will you ever be getting 196 7753 datewheels made where the datewheels are supplied? :whistling:

Will be ordering the wheels tomorrow (today now!!). No need for paymnets now - I will update the boards with more details at the appropriate time. Suffice it to say our dreams are to be realised soon!!!

No luck with obtaining 7753 wheels. The answer is go to the name on the dial - so if anyone wants to call Panerai and ask them to supply the wheels be my guest.
