3717 - finally done

Finally managed to take some pics of my now almost perfect 3717.

ar1vj4.jpg

It's a 28.8k version from TWP with day and date wheels from CousinsUK fitted and with a crystal double AR coated by our great AR-man Kuba aka k2222.

I REALLY recommend these 2 mods to everyone who wants to have their 3717 as keepers. With these mods your watch gets as close to gen as possible... and I mean it.

As you all know it turned out that stock ETA 7750 day and date wheels are almost identical to these used by IWC - just swap them and you can really see the difference. New fonts are bigger and fit into date windows perfectly. They are also a lot nicer in terms of print quality.

Double AR is standard in gen and even though some members said their single sided rep coating seems to be good enough I believe only the double AR can make this beautiful dial really stand out - with double AR you can really appreciate the look of your Pilot dial, the 3-dimensional markers etc.

Just look.

Once again I'd like to thank Kuba for rganising the AR job - it was a great pleasure for me to deal with you!

Thanks!

Thanks for the shots - I am sure my 3717 is a keeper and I like what you did. I think the first step will be The Zigmeister to get it in perfect running shape. Maybe I'll send with the new date wheels and have him swap them at that point. All these things to look forward to...

Thanks again for the picts!

BTW. I went to IWC AD on tuesday and asked about 5004 Big Pilot strap (Black Croc)... damn they are asking 400.00 EUR for the strap alone.... think I will have to go for an aftermarket Pilot strap. You have any recommendations?

  • 2 weeks later...

Great suggestions on the Thicker Diameter Springbars and the Superluminova treatment. Where do you guys suggest going for both of these items, is it best to just send to The Zigmeister or someone of that skillset. I was thinking of sending mine off to get double AR'd, but believe it or not out of the box it has a pretty nice AR on it (though not especially apparent in the photo below). The bracelet is really nice on this watch too.

I concurr with the others I would love to see the 'sexy' shots of this watch ;-)

Here is mine in front of Mahboonkrong last week

I have read that some of you guys send the crystal for AR coating.

The website that sells this rep states that the sapphire has double sided AR. Is it not good enough?

http://www.puretimewatch.com/index.php?pro...cture_id=201699

Also, my local optical glasses store offers AR on their lenses. Is this the same process? Can I ask a local lab to do the AR for me, or is this a specialty job that only a watch AR specialist can do?

Yes, aftermarket AR from k222 or chieftang blows away rep factory AR

yes, its the same as your glasses

yes, you can ask the local lab to do it - lots of folks have tried that

However - k222 and chief now have access to THE STRONGEST AR possible in the world - your eye dr. will be better than 99.9% of rep factory AR (the swiss steelfish is pretty good)

but, k222 and chief Blow away anything you have ever seen - even GEN watch AR

and its cheap - 40/50 bucks / lense
