Bearcat Posted November 17, 2007 Report Posted November 17, 2007 Bush wears a Timex and is *proud* of it. Prince William looks like he has a Bond Seamaster on. The rest can likely be identified by the true WISes on this board, but the photos are too grainy for my aging eyes. Nicely done post. Thanks! --Doc
cornerstone Posted November 17, 2007 Report Posted November 17, 2007 I think this one belongs in Kenburg's "suit shot" thread instead....

Corgi Posted November 17, 2007 Report Posted November 17, 2007 I believe Pope Benedict wears the two-toned Rolex datejust that used to be a favorite of John Paul II, may he rest in peace. However, judging from his opulent style and flair for the extravagant, he may have upgraded to something more diamondey or patek-phillipey.
Pugwash Posted November 17, 2007 Report Posted November 17, 2007 How many people here have ever met any of this lot though? I believe one person has mentioned they met George W, is that it?
FasTTaP Posted November 17, 2007 Report Posted November 17, 2007 Sarkozy also own a Breguet annual calendar with PR, but shots are very rare since having money is extremely unpopular in France...
Victoria Posted November 17, 2007 Author Report Posted November 17, 2007 How many people here have ever met any of this lot though? I believe one person has mentioned they met George W, is that it? Not sure I follow your logic there, Pugs. Seems irrelevant.
Bearcat Posted November 17, 2007 Report Posted November 17, 2007 Ok, Vic...Post the answers, please. And let's try to turn this one around. Guess which famous person is wearing this Day-Date?
Victoria Posted November 17, 2007 Author Report Posted November 17, 2007 Bush wears a Timex and is *proud* of it. Prince William looks like he has a Bond Seamaster on. The rest can likely be identified by the true WISes on this board, but the photos are too grainy for my aging eyes. Nicely done post. Thanks! Thanks Doc! Your eyes are fine! It's just that I spent hours researching for this geeky post -- and that's the clearest I could find. Ack, very frustrating. Thank God for View Images.
Victoria Posted November 17, 2007 Author Report Posted November 17, 2007 Guess which famous person is wearing this Day-Date? You! Or Admin! I love that photo.
Victoria Posted November 17, 2007 Author Report Posted November 17, 2007 Sarkozy also own a Breguet annual calendar with PR, but shots are very rare since having money is extremely unpopular in France... Sounds about right. President Chirac wore Breguets as Mayor of Paris. But he favoured gold Rolexes whilst President.
Victoria Posted November 17, 2007 Author Report Posted November 17, 2007 I believe Pope Benedict wears the two-toned Rolex datejust that used to be a favorite of John Paul II, may he rest in peace. Heh. The guy who wears Oakley shades, has a 2 Gig Ipod Nano in white, and is attributed to wear red Prada shoes (which has been debunked, BTW), oh and he wears a Nike baseball cap whilst relaxing at the Castel Gandolfo, just doesn't seem to own a watch. However, judging from his opulent style and flair for the extravagant, he may have upgraded to something more diamondey or patek-phillipey. That is Gaenswein's influence, BTW. He usually is a rather modest guy. The Pope ring is of course, given him and will be broken on his death. Loved your tongue-in-cheek reply though!
Victoria Posted November 17, 2007 Author Report Posted November 17, 2007 Heh. Yes. Fifo too wore the black Sub shown in this famous site a few members have posted: http://www.oysterinfo.de/en/specials/celebs/index.php
FasTTaP Posted November 17, 2007 Report Posted November 17, 2007 I think Che Guevara [censored] a GMT, don't remember where I found the info, but I'm pretty sure...
Corgi Posted November 17, 2007 Report Posted November 17, 2007 He usually is a rather modest guy. Let's not forget to mention his solid gold cross encrusted with baguette diamonds larger than my fingers: At least he travels economically... Volkswagen Phaeton Special Volvo XC90 ...He has a private jet too...!
Victoria Posted November 17, 2007 Author Report Posted November 17, 2007 Let's not forget to mention his solid gold cross encrusted with baguette diamonds larger than my fingers: Volvo XC90 ...He has a private jet too...! Heh. Funny reply. But you know me, I'm a pedant. So my reply is, let's not confuse the Office with the Person. The Pontiff has all those things you mentioned, including the Cross made under Michelangelo's direction (I touched above on the Fisherman's Ring given to each Pope, and smashed on his death). But Joseph Ratzinger himself tooled around in this Volkswagen. EDIT: Okay, he wears a watch. Whew. Discrete granpa watch. Nothing too unusual. Could be anything, from Timex to Patek. This, OTOH, looks VERY interesting to me. Bvlgari? Oakleys. You go girl!
Everythingape Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 I too have met our dear king two times. And the first, during a regatta he was sailing, he was wearing an orange Omega Planet Ocean. I have also seen him with an Omega Yacht timer of some sort, looked well used.
Victoria Posted November 18, 2007 Author Report Posted November 18, 2007 I too have met our dear king two times. And the first, during a regatta he was sailing, he was wearing an orange Omega Planet Ocean. In one of the sailing photos I could've chosen for this post, it seemed like he was wearing a PO. I had to trudge through literally hundreds of photos, since it's really difficult to get closeups of people's watches. WTF. If I were a photographer (again), that's what I would concentrate on. *g* I have also seen him with an Omega Yacht timer of some sort, looked well used. Interesting. Thanks, Ape.
