HauteHippie
Being sold as genuine on timezone: The numbers look too fat, like on my rep, for one thing. The "5" being most obvious when comparing to this gen: I do detect a very light blue in the light reflections off the crystal, though... But I can't know what kind of color manipulation was done to the image. The white balance is definitely off - the whole image has a slight orange cast. What say the IWC gurus? If this one is a gen, then I am much more pleased with my rep 3717 dial!
Pugwash
Looks gen to me. The fat/thin numbers thing is a myth anyway. Compare it to a Joyful Collection gen pic:
HauteHippie
Looks gen to me. The fat/thin numbers thing is a myth anyway. It's a myth in what way? The comparison between the upper pic and lower pic in my post shows a difference, no? Are you saying there are dial variants with both types of numbers or are the stock pics used by the online retailers inaccurate?
cornerstone
I think it may be that the 'official' shot has been very heavily manipulated, it's not a natural shot by any means, perhaps that's why the numbers look thinner. A couple more gen shots...
ratchpot
I say it's a rep, because the day font looks wrong.
HauteHippie
I say it's a rep, because the day font looks wrong. I was wondering about that too. I haven't studied 7750 day fonts but the WED does look a little questionable to me for some reason.

slai
The "D" in WED is definitely off.
arminvanbuuren
i don't know man.. it looks like the one in my local IWC AD.. people are saying stuff about fat numbering markers and "golden" pinions.. but trust me.. the one they sell in my local IWC AD has brown pinions and also fat numbers.. i think there is always variation even in the gens.. so you can't really pick on these!! it's really hard to pick on the 3717 without looking at the bracelet really.. as to hour markers.. i've also seen gens with the thick 3,6,9,12 markers.. but offcourse in the gen it is much smoother (better lume application) and also gen uses superlume!!! another one is the double ar vs single ar.. but obviously it's an easy fix these days and the third is the datewheel.. i know the ETA datewheel is close to the gen.. but in the gen the fonts are much thicker than the stock ETA font .. but then again check out IWC's stock pics.. the datefont is ETA datefont.. so you can't really be so sure

arminvanbuuren
Here's mine with an ETA daywheel. see how the ETA datewheel is thinner than the above gen pics? but if you compare it to the IWC official pics.. it's the same font.. so yeah hard to tell really.. slai
Even if that was a gen, I still maintain that my rep looks more gen than that gen!
slai
Ok, I think the pic resizing killed the "D". I found the TZ post and downloaded the full sized pic. D looks fine in it. Looks like it was a false alarm. I feel so inadequate with my thin font now.
slai
I wonder if rep makers used a resized pic of a daywheel to make the rep...the resizing error really looks like my rep day wheel.
HauteHippie
I wonder if rep makers used a resized pic of a daywheel to make the rep...the resizing error really looks like my rep day wheel. That would be hilarious.... The story we've been given, of course, is that they used a gen watch (in the flesh) to design the rep though.
Pugwash
The watch in the photo is definitely gen. It looks like my rep with the ETA wheels. Yes, our reps are that good.
Stephane
Yes, our reps are that good. Indeed. I couldn't say which is rep which is gen from pictures ... Only side by side and in person I think. Rep DW Eta DW
ratchpot
So the "D" on the rep DW is actually closer to the gen than the "D" on the ETA DW? Crikey....I'm not sure I want to know this information. It's taking Repology to a different level...
rckh
200% rep!!!! "D" on "Wed" are standard font on reps wheel!!!!! Best regards, Raymond
k2222
I think it is a gen, look at the subdials, are deeper and sharper than a rep., also silver pinions, rep got more brown, but i can be wrong
Merlin
I'm not so sure about that all reps have brass (or brown) pinions. I think that there are different types on the market. The pinions on my 3717 are looking quite silver. In comparison to slai's pinions they're really bright. Edited January 11, 2008 by Merlin
takashi
Look at the triangle at 12 and lume thickness... More likely to be a gen.
Pugwash
Look at the triangle at 12 and lume thickness... More likely to be a gen. I think we established it was a gen. Or at least I hope we did. It's a gen.
