Hi all,

I am thinking of buying a watch with a white face to complement my cllection of darker faced watches.

I want one that is as close to gen as possible and think it could be a fight between the Rolex Yachtmaster or the Breitling SuperOcean SteelFish.

I would be interested to hear people's thoughts on:

1) Which white-faced watch is best to go with ?

2) Who supplies the "closest to gen" version ?

I have also added a poll for a quick measurement but please post your thoughts in the thread.

Thanks :D

Tough call as I see them as completely different styles. ^_^

Steelfish on rubber looks best to me which makes it more of a dive/sport casual watch.

Noob Yacht-Master is definately a Bling dress watch - to me anyway.

Bottom line is that both are fantastic replications B)

Buy both and a PAM 113 and a White Explorer II and a Vintage Daytona! That should complete your collections of white face watches!

dito - same choice here.

Accuracy: SFSO, old case PAM188, VC Overseas, 18k FM Casablanca, FM Conquistador

nice ones (but not closest): Omega Seamaster GMT, Explorer 2, MBW AP ROO, MBW AP RO Jumbo, RD Easy Diver

Just for fun: FM Vegas

Personally, I actually prefer the YM.

I was a bit disappointed by the SFSO. Great watch, but the pearl is not as good as on the BCE/ Blackbird, bezel rotation is cheap feeling. While on my YM bezel rotation was very very good. The depth of he pattern on the SFSO dial is shallower than the gen.. The YM bracelet also feels way better than the SFSO.

Still, both are good watches just two different styles!

I'd love to, do you have any to donate. I will accept money if you are short of watches ;)

Thanks for teh suggestions. I hadn't seen teh VS before.

I have to say, it looks very much like a Rolex datejust

Given the current conditions in US politics, I thought this thread had an entirely different meaning!

I was extremely scared for a moment and thought that maybe a certain candidate had suggested a new policy!

  • 9 months later...

lmao Upon reading the title to this thread I was reminded of a thread on another forum that I was directed to by a fellow obama ... non-lover??? disliker?? something... White slaves?

But ON TOPIC, I would definitely choose the YM. Beautiful, beefy looking watch...

Of the two, I think the Yacht-Master would be a more versatile watch: Capable of casual, but definitely with the classy look. The SFSO, on the other hand, I could imagine strugglng to pull off a really 'smart' outfit.
