hiker01
This is what I'm waiting for: Here's what they say at watchreport about this model: http://www.watchreport.com/2008/04/the-new-rolex-s.html

dluddy
The rehaut engraving on this one just kills it for me Nothing like engraving your specifications on a very visible portion of your timepiece

hank7502
I do like the maxi dial though.
highoeyazmuhudee
yeah the rehaut engraving says to me "look what we did, nah nah " speaks more like an ad about some of the features, for others to boast about. if they put the depth rating on the ring instead of the dial, and made "sea-dweller" in red print thatd be way more exciting
wadan
100% agree, next they will engrave the price Not my cup of tea With all due respect I see it as sacrilege of an originally timeless design Besides why jump from 40mm to 44mm ,,, what happened to 42mm Thanks and cheers Edited June 3, 2008 by wadan
Sir-Lancelot
I like the old dwellers better. To each his own.
freddy333
I want a Deepsea, too. But the thing is such a honky monstrosity that I doubt I would ever consider wearing it (at least not out in public). I have a nice slot waiting for it in the back of 1 of my cases where it will sit, nearly motionless, to be loved & admired under glass, which is where it looks best. Now, if you want to talk about the new White Gold Sub...........THAT is a watch that I would happily wear. It is obviously no longer a tool watch, but with jeans & a tee......smashing
Mickey Padge
I prefer my SSD to this possible future rep, mine has had the crown guards tweaked and a gen insert installed. It looks pretty damned sweet

lanikai
If the new seadweller is made it will be from pics, this I am told .. so not on my top 5 hit list .. I'm going to be happy with the 116710 for a while anyway with the strides in the quality of reps they would regress going back to pics to replicate a timepiece.. although I'll never say never.. not for now anyway.. SubFrog
Hike, I'm with you...I like it. And I don't mind the rehaut that much. I could live with it, I guess.

One of my favorite color on dial and bezel! If the new seadweller is made it will be from pics, this I am told .. so not on my top 5 hit list .. Lani, I completely agree! That would be a shame, but...........if the Rep is close with no real detectable flaws????? Who's to say we won't be jumping all over it! Remains to be seen! Hike, I'm with you...I like it. And I don't mind the rehaut that much. I could live with it, I guess. SF, the one thing I'm hoping for is a guarantee of 1000ft water resistance, ALA SFSO and SSD! Then the rest of those over indulgence in text I could overlook! I love the Maxi dial! Hike!
chrgod
I don't really get the new SDDS... At first I found it horrible, now I just find it strange... The enlarged pearl might make it easier to turn the bezel, but on a tool watch it is vulnerable to be knocked out of position. Is the rehaut as "wooky" as in the pictures? And the "Ring lock system" is it a new invention, or just the same old clicking bezel?
doc savage
I didn't think they could do it; but they came up with something dumber than ROLEXROLEXROLEX to engrave on the rehaut. Apart from that I like the beefiness, a very American sub.

The "ROLEXROLEXROLEX" is still there, it has a weird two tier rehaut, you can just about make it out in the picture, if you look closely..... SubFrog
Oh wow...it IS still there. I didn't look close enough. Man, that's like double rehaut or something. Ever heard of KISS: Keep It Simple, Stupid. Over-detailing, IMO

freddy333
The Deepsea is what gets produced when the marketing guys start overruling (& running) the design department. Never a good idea.
Stephane
The rehaut engraving on this one just kills it for me It is not even born in my opinion One day we'll wake up and discover it was just a nightmare Ok, so that said, I understand that all tastes are in the nature as we say in french, and everyone's taste is respectable. But, come on, a good old SD is classier, isn't it.

freddy333
Nasty? Perhaps. But I would wager that if the Deepsea rep is as good as the GMTIIC, we will all have 1 (even if they end up sitting, mostly unworn, in a case or drawer). That is my 1st prediction for the New Wave of Rolex Reps.

I only buy watches I will actually wear I will get the new GMT2 soon, however if they replicate a DeepSea 99.99% accurate to genuine, I will still not buy it...... It is a carbuncle of a watch to my eyes
Stephane
The first mod on the GMT II would be to make the green into red anwyay... Ooops, then it wouldn't be accurate I guess. Ok, well I'll pass untill Tribal can swap a ceramic bezel on to a Noob 16710
