freddy333
I keep reading posts suggesting alot of problems with the correct hand stack movement in the new GMTIIC, but I have yet to read an account of a single owner who had to return his/her watch for repair/replacement. Although I do not fiddle with the GMT functions, my watch has been running fine & keeping good time since I received it. If you have had to return your chs GMTIIC for repairs, would you describe the nature of the problem & what the seller agreed to do about it. CERAMIC MODEL ONLY PLEASE
lanikai
My Collector has stated that a handful of these came back to him for repair... I really don't play with the jumping hour hand.. but once in a while when I lay it down for say 6 hours or so I come back and the watch is running but it seems the hour hand does not move along with the minute hand..this has happened a few times.. I have taken it 24 to 48 hrs. manual revolution .. very very slowly and this has corrected the problem... tried this before BT posted his thread... seemed like common sense that the mod was not disengaging .. Joshua told me to do the same thing after the fact.. but I had planned to send it to Rob anyway just for preventive measures.. I want to get it fully serviced and have him adjust the mods if need be.. It will leave for Canada in the next week or so... So with that being said I will pass on any pertinant info once Rob has a go at it.... He is alway's thorough with his explanation of any problems and solutions.. AllergyDoc
I played with all the hands of mine quite a bit after receiving it from Josh. I had a couple of issues that were resolved with rotating the hands through severals days worth of revolutions. It sat on my good winder for 5 days and kept time at -4 seconds per day. I don't "play" with the hands anymore, but I'll use them next time I travel.
tenacious_b
my IHS GMTIIC got out of sync a couple of times, but I just lined everything up and midnight both times, and took it through 48 hours, reset the time and have not had problems since. I will give taking all hands to the 12 first before I take it around 48 ... this makes actually more sense to synchronize the hands.. thanks ten. hiker01
@freddy and lani! I know this is a little bit off, but I'd like to asked anyway....this should not be a concern for the Asian-WHS version, right? I just ordered the Asian, that's why I asked. I also have both the EXPII and GMTII TT & SS Swiss WHS and never have any problems for a year now, and I always use the GMT when I travel! Thanks, Guys! From what I see so far, the 'sync' problems seem to be both temporary (fixable by the owner) & afflicting all versions of the GMT regardless of whether they are chs or ihs. But after Ziggy has overhauled 1 of the chs versions I think we will be better able to pinpoint those problems that are specific to the chs movements from those that relate to either the general GMT functions of either movement or those typical problems that plague most surplus (unserviced) ETA and/or Asian movements. kbh
I've had mine for about 3 weeks and have had only a small problem of the GMT hand not being exactly lined up on hour when it should be. The difference is not enough to bother me so I have left it pretty much alone. It's been kicking along happily on a winder since I got it but I did have to adjust the regulator. It was losing about 3 minutes a day. I've turned the regulator about all the way to the plus side and now it's gaining a few seconds a day. It keeps pretty much the same exact time as the other 3 on the winder. All in all, I'm very happy with it. I just find I don't wear it because it's such a nice watch I don't want to scratch it. I'd rather beat up my SSD>

Guest carlsbadrolex
Mine has fallen out of sync and I have used the same process as everyone else to get it back. Mine is also running incredibly accurate (+1 after 48+ Hours)
magagne
I suggest for who participate to mention the model, for stats purpose Asian or Swiss. If Swiss, CHS (correct hand stack) or IHS (incorrect hand stack). I'm curious too see if the Asian mvt has more problem than the Swiss one. freddy333
All of the posted problems relate to the syncing of the GMT hand & it appears to be occurring with similar regularity on both the chs & ihs models. For the record, I purchased the Swiss ETA chs version. As I mentioned elsewhere, the movement looks & tests like a standard Swiss-issue ETA. perry563
Well mine is still on its way back to Andrew. I wore my GMT for 5 straight days and it just performed so well. I said THIS is the perfect rep. Came home after day 5, took off the watch and let it run down. Next day I tried setting it and BAM........the hour hand just stops dead. When I try turning the crown it just turns and nothing moves....not the hour hand and not the date function. What I did notice and please tell me if this is the way its supposed to be.....when I set the hour hand the first time the hand did not JUMP. Instead the hour hand would move as if you were setting the minute hand. When I felt a slight CLICK I knew that was where the hour hand needed to be. rckh
My GMTIIc from Andrew already past around 4 weeks. So far; I didn't got trouble. It stay on my wrist or stay in my watch-winder; haven't stop working from it arrived. I just play with the Hour-Hand & Day adjustment 1 & only 1 time. And I do it very slowly + very gentlely. after 4 weeks my GMTIIc gain 1 min in 3 weeks. Maybe after 1 or 2 weeks; I'll bring it to my faithful watchsmith to regulate it. Hope it'll keep working fine in coming future. Best Regards, Raymond

I am on my way out the door, so I have to keep this short, but on chs models the hour hand should 'jump' in steps between each of the hour index markers. Neither the minute hand nor the GMT hand should move during this setting. When setting the time at the 2nd stop of the stem, all 3 of the hands should move -- GMT, hour & minute. jetzeus
All in all, I'm very happy with it. I just find I don't wear it because it's such a nice watch I don't want to scratch it. I'd rather beat up my SSD> I'm not judging at all, but I guess this is something I never understood. Why buy a watch and not wear it? I have the gen and wear the thing every single day, just about. Wear it to work, to play golf...you name it, it's on me! Will I scratch it? I'm sure at some point. I guess that is part of owning and wearing a watch. I'm rambling...just a thought. Enjoy that baby in the winder or however you want...it is beautiful wherever it sits!
Guest carlsbadrolex
Has anyone has issues with their ceramic bezel insert not being centered properly? Did you dare try to take it off and center it? And how about the non-level crystal? Both of the GMT IIc's at our G2G last week had the crystal sitting slightly higher on the 3 oclock side than the 9 oclock side... Mine still running at +1sec after 4 days now. Both of the GMT IIc's at our G2G last week had the crystal sitting slightly higher on the 3 oclock side than the 9 oclock side... Just noticed it. The factory obviously used the same (uneven) press to fit all the crystals. But this is something you also see on gen watches, so I would not let it bother you. Guest carlsbadrolex
OK, a couple questions since all the experts seem to be in this thread. I was able to just get the bezel insert out of my bezel so that it could be aligned properly. Does anyone have a clue how to get the bezel off? It is not like a standard sub bezel. There are three oval shaped cut outs under the insert and a pin in each. As the bezel turns, the pins ride on a spring that is under the bezel and catch in notches to hold it in place. (God that sounds dumb...) I guess maybe I should have taken pictures before putting the bezel back on. In any event, this insert is without a doubt the tightest fitting insert I have ever seen. Double sided tape was used to hold it in place, and Im quite sure it wasnt necessary. Also, it was quite evident with the insert out that the crystal is not set correctly. SO BE CAREFULL AROUND WATER until you get it set properly. I would think that if we can figure out how to get the bezel off, resetting the crystal shouldnt be difficult. Thank you, and good advice re: keeping it away from water. I had water get into the watch twice from simple stuff like washing my hands and spraying some glass cleaner on the crystal. It is very clear to me now that the water came in on the 3:00 side of the crystal. I can't tell you how long it was bothering me that I couldn't figure it out.
