robertb Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 TJGlade posted an excellent tutorial on the subject so I don't want to step on his toes. Just thought I would post my version of proper watch testing. I'll start with my BCE so watch and learn boys. First of all, get your hands on a Bergeon 5555 like mine that has a max testing pressure of 6 ATMs. Then forget about all that nonsense and go straight to "the test". Find yourself a crazy 7 year old. Strap your watch onto their ankle ... and start testing! Once confident that your watch won't implode under the intense pressure and vigorous thrashing generated by a hyperactive 7 year old.... put it on and enjoy! You can even lay on the bottom of the pool and blow bubbles like me.
geo1nah2a Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 Good one! Thank You for the pics. A very nice watch indeed. Start using the last two underwater wrist shot as a reply to wrist-checks!
CoolDool Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 Hi there, Very nice watch and indeed good pic's quality . hope to fine good watch my self
pfran42 Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 Sir..I believe that we share the same sense of humor. Great looking watch and pictures.
chubbchubb Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 That started my day with a smile... thanks.
RWG Technical Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 Well done, reminds me of the Timex commercial where they strapped the watch to the propeller of an outboard motor and ran the thing in a tub of water, although this test is probably more intensive. Thanks for the laugh. RG
chiefwiggum Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 LoL - How did your boy manage to surface with that chunk strapped to his ankle?
capice Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 great pics m8, can be used for their new adcampagne.,...
OiRogers Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 Wonderful stuff... lets see... I've got to wait 6 years and 4 monthes till my "tester" is primed and ready to rock. Till then I may have to borrow "testing equipment" from others. I think my "tester" might be willing to start now... I'll could try her out with my PO and her little tub-in-the-tub bathing set up.
joint05 Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 amazing pics and watch!! is that a rep or gen?
FxrAndy Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 I have a similar method but i use a stupid 38 year old and a 3m board, was sailing in the baltic once and some one on the boat asked if my cheepo SD was water proof, i said i did not know so i tied it to the longest warp we had and chucked it in, it survive being draged on the bottom for a bit.
mysterio Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 Beautiful watch! I second that comment.
Guest carlsbadrolex Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 Im reporting you to CPS... Anyone who would strap a 10 pound steel brick to their childs leg and throw them in a pool needs to be taken away! OH, great post and great pics! Im not quite sure who was having more fun there! I cant think of a better thread topic than the sharing of OUR passions with our children! T
robertb Posted September 8, 2008 Author Report Posted September 8, 2008 Yup, can't take this watch stuff too seriously. I was at SCP Tourneau with my 3 boys today and while I was looking around one of them said... "Look Dad, there are some IWCs and APs." I couldn't have been happier!
