dluddy Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 I just got my 196 Daylight back from Canada. It went in for the full spa treatment. Ziggy Lume Genuine Kruzer Crown Chief Double AR Had an issue with the Lello datewheel but a replacement is on its way so that will come later. The lume job is amazing and the new Double AR coating makes this dial sing...Simply amazing results.
LordRasta Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 Very nice. Make sure you provide tracking when you send it to me.

dluddy Posted September 10, 2008 Author Report Posted September 10, 2008 @ Stephane No, its a 7750 Old Case.
Guest Sql_pl Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 LUMINOR on the caseback? How?? Hm?
Stephane Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 @ Stephane No, its a 7750 Old Case. No matter, it's great to see you enjoy it LUMINOR on the caseback? How?? Hm? Ooops, indeed ...

frogfalls Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 Congratulations! That dial is awesome....
Guest Sql_pl Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 So what about that caseback hmm?
Watchmeister Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 Easy answer on the case back. One of the versions of the 188 Asian 7750 came with Luminor on the back. As far as I know it was never put on the g series gen 196 - only the 188. Most importantly, very nice piece.
babola Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 As a happy 196 owner myslefm all I can say is - fantastic result! Mine is ex-"lovepanerai" one, similar mods to yours, ETA7753 motor, The Zigmeister C3/C5 mix lume (greenish tint per gen 196 specs), single-sided Chief's A/R, but Palp crown and no DW swap yet but have spare Lello DW in reserve. I agree with Sql_pl - that caseback is to die for as well, very gen like, the serial is nice and believable number and I really like the 196 later G-series casebacks that came engraved both on the top and bottom rim with Luminor Daylight txt. Mine mimics the earlyG-series 196 casebacks that came with only bottom engraved Daylight txt. Wear it in good health! babola
Watchmeister Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 I didn't know any 196 G's had Luminor on the top. I have seen H's with it on it but never G's. Live and learn.

Hey K, long time no speak :-) 196 also came without top txt Panerai on the caseback, but only reportedly at the beginning of G-series. The caseback cahnged designed soon after and the top txt was included, probably to balance out the Daylight txt at the bottom. http://www.watches24seven.com/gallery2/mai...;g2_itemId=2742 cheers, babola

Toadtorrent Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 Wow. Really...WOW! And after another outstanding The Zigmeister lume session and proper servicing...you know what looks as good outside, is ticking as good inside. I think you need to post some macro shots of that lume so we can drool some more. Beautiful!
babola Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 (edited) Here's one gen 196G with both Luminor & Daylight on the caseback: http://www.visiotime.com/?page=ProductDetail&id=2876 cheers, babola Edited November 27, 2008 by babola
Slartibartfast Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 I think you need to post some macro shots of that lume so we can drool some more. Beautiful! Agreed! Show us all some more close up pics of that beautiful lume job.
lanikai Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 congrats DL.. looks like another gem..
AMK000 Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 I have also an old case 196 hanging ...but neither The Zigmeister no Jacob are around for what it needs to be done to it. Curiously enough the old 21.000 is running better than the new 28.000 ones.
Watchmeister Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 Babola- Thanks for the info. At one point I was wearing a 196 without the luminor on it before I opted for a 162 instead (no luminor on that one either) and so I thought the entire g series 196 had no Luminor. Live and learn.
dluddy Posted November 30, 2008 Author Report Posted November 30, 2008 Thanks and sorry guys...Was away for the Thanksgiving holiday. You guys are correct on the caseback. The transitional G series had both and then from H series on it had both. I picked up the caseback from another member a while back and swapped my original EL caseback without the Luminor. I thought is looked better with both I'll try to take some dial closeups tomorrow ao you can see Ziggy's lume job...simply outstanding results on probably one of the hardest dials to lume.
