tmg Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 I just received my 1675 back last week and I'm really happy with how it turned out for a budget project. I'd like to thank Polexpete for his help in facilitating the CWP redial and also to Vaccum for installing the "missing link" to my 1675 and for reluming the hands. Here is what was done on this 1675: Silix 1675 with 2836 ETA Stock dial was completely blasted clean and rescreened in a gilt gloss finish with vintage lume Stock hands were relumed to a slightly creamy tone (this was done priod to the redial, hence the mismatched lume tones) Bezel was narrowed down on a lathe for a more accurate appearance Lug holes drilled to accept gen springbars Case aged and edges softened on the lugs The lugs and crown guards were also squared off more at the tips Clarks T116 crystal was sanded down to reduce the height and installed Bezel insert was bleached and gently aged Caseback swapped with one from a Silix Bond Sub that had a better shape Here it is before with the stock Silix dial and a flat clear coat on it: And after with the redial mounted with a gen 7836 oyster bracelet for you purists (By-tor & Dockblackrock ): And with the jubilee:

freddy333 Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 Great work, TMG. To ice the cake, you should consider a gilt handset or try my heat-aging procedure to make the hands match the dial lume
tmg Posted January 15, 2009 Author Report Posted January 15, 2009 Great work, TMG. To ice the cake, you should consider a gilt handset or try my heat-aging procedure to make the hands match the dial lume Thanks Freddy! Ah yes, I was thinking about the "toast" technique for the hands (I first heard about it from Polexpete). The redial came long after the hands had been re-done and the contrast in tone was even greater. I've also been thinking about a small GMT hand for it.
Toadtorrent Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 That does look great. I love relume jobs!!
tmg Posted June 18, 2009 Author Report Posted June 18, 2009 Updated with a pix of better toned hands and aged GMT hand.
