cib0rgman Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 I have a 1665 MBW that has a 1570 movement installed and a whole lot of gent parts. I contacted Jewelry and watch about a white 1665 dial he sent some picture of the dial supposedly to be a singer base dial. I am not sure if he sent a picture of a gen to fool me. here is the picture http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/3014/seawhite1.jpg I need some input. Thanks Cyb
freddy333 Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 It is neither white nor gen, but (discounting the yellowish lume) it looks pretty good to me.
Ronin Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 The text is pretty crisp. Aftermarket = Yes. What are they asking? $150 tops. IMHO. If you decide to bail on it let me know. I am still looking for a DRSD or something similar to what you posted. -Ronin
Stephane Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 I am with Freddy here: a great white dial should be ...white. These watches aren't so old after all. I have no idea what they ask for this one, but I would send it to Ziggy and ask him to whiten it anyway.
rolex001 Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 This is a copy off a Mark I DRSD dial where J&W probably forgot to paint the writing red, or at least pink (most of them faded) - just don't buy it, it's not exactly a good dial. A GWSD dial will never have Submariner 2000 written on the dial.
kingkitesurf Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 Rolex001 is right. It is the first Double Red dial on which the lettering of the first two lines tended to fade to pink (production error). They are worth major bucks. On this dial they didn't even bother paininting it pink. The 6 and 9 markers are a bit long anyway. Overall the dial looks good... much better than the standard MBW...

I am wearing the red version today (old picture)
cib0rgman Posted March 13, 2009 Author Report Posted March 13, 2009 I did not even noticed that before. about the red writing been white. he is asking 365.00 i think is too much for a dial that is not even right. Maybe The Zigmeister can change the color of the letters. but then i will a need case back and a super dome. figures. Thanks
