polexpete Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 I just picked up this gen 6263 silver dial for my DW project.... Waddaya reckon, a bit of spit and polish should be good as new huh? Cheers P.
kingkitesurf Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 There are companies in Germany that retouch gen dials. Not cheap and it needs to be gen... Give it a shot...
chefcook Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 Don't spend that money - the companies mentioned above are ridicolously overpriced and all dial rework I've seen here in Germany was even worse than before.
Dizzy Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 I'd leave it just like that. "water damage" work with it, i think it looks cool
addingwatch Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 I would leave it. It looks cool and once you refinish, the value will drop. Regards.
freddy333 Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 I was considering that dial myself, but I thought the damage was too extensive. I think your only options are to use it as is (if you put it into a very 'vintagized' case, it might be interesting) or have it refinished by a professional dial refinisher.
freddy333 Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 thats what they call a *tropical* dial It looks more like a sub-prime dial.
polexpete Posted March 14, 2009 Author Report Posted March 14, 2009 Freddy, i seem remember you posting the name of a guy in the US who will re-finish gen dials only, and does a pretty good job.... Cheers P.
freddy333 Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 Click here & you might also check with MY (he works on gens too, but I have not seen any of his Daytona dials so I cannot compare the 2).
