  1. Hi all, Just received my PAM111 Noob rep from Trevor and finally got it working. While one co-worker was impressed with the rep (and he knew it was a rep) another co-worker (a rather pompous [censored] who always has a smart-ass putdown to pretty much anything anyone says) tried to ridicule my choice of rep (ie the fact that it was a high-quality rep instead of a gen). Of course, it was later on that I thought of a good reply. Since we all know at least one person like this, here's what my response is going to be from now on: Him: "That's a fake, isn't it!" (in a condescending, sarcastic tone) Me: "Yup. It's as fake as your girlfriend's orgasms..." If the guy gets angry, my next repy would be "Sorry, mate. I guess I shouldn't have assumed you'd have an actual girlfriend." Be proud of your reps! Just my two cents' worth... DD

  4. I like it. But if he gets mad, may be a better response would be: "Sorry, mate. I'm sure she's had a gen before you" Dave...

  5. No need to take the crystal off. Open up the Caseback, remove crown stem, remove movement screws, plop out movement, glue back triangle with GS hypo cement.

  6. The movement comes out from the front on these. You need to remove the bezel and crystal after removing the movement clamps. Its certainly the case for the A7750 model.

  8. To echo my friend panerai, I really do not bother much about winders these days. Also there are two schools of thought I have seen debated. One keep them on winders oils moving yada yada the other no, no winder wears the movement out. I can not say which one is right with certainty. But some of the finicky Asian ones we get best left alone for sure, the example being the a7750 w/ the seconds @ 6.

  10. I've got mixed feelings about winders. At one time I had three 4 watch winders and kept almost all of my watches on winders. They are handy for non quickset watches (older vintage) that require winding the hands forward 2 revolutions per day to get the date correct. Maybe complications that are a PITA to reset after running down for a few weeks. Other than that, I really can't see the advantage to keeping one wound. I'm down to one working winder, and it has 4 watches being wound, the other 25 or so are in watch boxes and my wrist. I believe that what you read is pretty controversial, the oils used today are synthetic, and while I have no watchmaking knowledge, from all I've read and heard, the new oils are very stable and don't break down like the old natural oils did. That's not to say that oils last forever, because they don't, but they tend to be pretty stable for quite a few years. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  11. Angus's Navi is nice, very nice. A definite improvement over the other rep. Sub dial spacing isn't that obvious, but i think the date wheel is still sunken. The Ar is better, possibly double ar. It appears that the light source is directly overhead hence the light reflection on the hands. I think we would've seen an angled view of the ar If it weren't for a sunken date. The case back and bracelet are better but still not overall not as good as super ocean abyss. It looks like it was made by the sosf v2 maker

  13. This one was a favorite of mine until I sold it. Franken because of its construction. More of a 16800 hybrid really. Gen crown and tube Gen insert/pearl TC bracelet, Dial and hands as well as the V2 DWO Gen 2836-2 ST3035 case and bezel, with gen spring bars, etc... Now, this 16610 is a true franken in every way Gen dial Gen SL hands Gen dimpled crown and gen tube Gen insert and SL pearl Now gen no LEC crystal Gen spring bars Y3135 serviced movement Gen 93150 clasp with very, very accurate flat 3 93150 bracelet(still searching for the elusive 501B end links) I modified a pair of WSO 501 end links. Took a few hours to get them to look and fit right. Still, POS and the customer service sucks. But it is what I have for now ST 3135 case and bezel assembly. The case has been softened since the pic was taken and repolished after a nice salt water dive sessions to give it that worn everyday look. Of the two, the 16800 felt better, but such is life. E
