  2. I finished my Rolex 6350 build last night. This one is shockingly hard for which to source parts. Kudos to Junebug for getting his done so spot on. This is built around a JMB 1016 v2 case for a 2824. JMB did a great job aging and reshaping eberything for me including the caseback. Custom engraving between the lugs. I wanted to try something a little different with this one though. Common practice is to drop a 2824 into the case, but an Explorer from the 50s wouldn't have a high beat movement. Junebug used a Fesla movement in his. I wanted something different from a 2824 Click the link for a video and place your bets. http://vid1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag4/jelliottz/20160123_022657_zpsptvpdgx1.mp4 No... I didn't go gen. I did use a movement which I don't think anyone else has used on a vintage Rolex build. I tapped the Seiko 7s26 for power plant duties. It's a low beat movement. It doesn't hack. It has nearly identical had sizes to an ETA (H: 1.5, M: .9, S: .21), and the hands advance the same as the gen movement. The only question was making it fit. And fit perfect it did. Stem is spot on for alignment. Plenty of clearance on the rotor. The movement is 12ligne, and with the built in plastic spacer, it snapped right in place and doesn't budge. I had to slightly reduce the second hand, but that was easy. I wanted the cathedral minute hand that you see on so many of the watches. I found a seller on ebay who had them in 12mm length. I with it was 12.5, but I'm still happy. Here's the full build list JMB 1016 v2 case: aged and custom engraving by JMB, addition ending aging by me Refinished 6350 dial from Tonnywatches Seiko 7s26 low beat movement Hour hand: long mercedes hand from Ofrei Minute hand: ebay Second hand: ? Came from parts box Rep 6mm crown: gen 6mm on order I'll be adding the gen 6mm crown and a gen jubilee bracelet. I know a rivet oyster would be more correct, but I've always loved the look of jubilee on Explorer. I may also switch to a big ball seconds hand. Thanks for looking. 3. I believe I love the small crown Rolex Subs more than the big crowns. I decided I wanted to make a 6536. This was the goal. And this is where I finished. Silix case ETA 2783 Custom dial by me Rep 6mm crown Tiger Concepts gold hands Case softened and beat up, lugs chamfered and rounded Plexi sanded to lower the height Insert bleached to removed the gloss Bezel heated for light brassing My goal was lightly worn but old. The case is one I already had. It has taken some nice natural wear over the past year. Shiny... Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk

  5. Have a look in the watches, clothes and accessories section on here. The only ones I can speak for on here personally are Sead (Supermirrors) and he's never let me down. He doesn't have a glossy website but providing you do your research and know which watch you want from which factory he is very good at sourcing a good one. The other being puretime who have a nice website with proper rep pictures on, a QC process so you can check the watches out to ensure no glaring errors in quality control (I've found I've needed to do this with pt a few times - they're a bigger organisation than Sead, churning more watches and therefore missing things from time to time, also everyone's tolerances are different so this is a handy way of ensuring what you're getting before it arrives) their communication is quick and clear, with Sead it can take a while sometimes because he doesn't have the resources PT do. Overall it's whatever floats your boat - 80% of my watches come from Sead, I can't talk highly enough of him. Puretime have also been very good, and many on here will speak highly of TrustyTime, Toro, Josh and the others - they're TD's for a reason, they've earned the right to be recommended by the community here and have kept that service level going for a considerable time. My advice is spend a long time looking around the brand sections, trading, TD's etc - familiarise yourself with the watches you like, different versions and the processes when it comes to getting a watch. Read the reviews and decide for yourself. People won't always answer questions because the information is all here. Good luck and enjoy! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. No, not mbw. Canal street case. They sold those years and years ago with a quartz movement. Average price was $35 for a complete watch

  7. Stick to the trusted dealers section on here, you're asking for trouble with solidswiss where there have been loads of horror stories across the rep fora, and what looks like a pretty obvious fake trustytime site in Russia [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Also ignore the website pictures, the dodgy sites use gen pics so obviously look good. 8. Im just wondering as i do, like the majority don't bother with a watch at all, those that do wear some cheap quartz powered watch And there i am, looking like i have thousands of dollars on my wrist (of course i dont, i would not subject a watch costing thousands to getting banged up at work, so its nice to be able to have a decent/good, reliable, rep watch) Of course i suppose thats a factory job for you (probably the cheapest factory in my county at that) Anybody else the only one at your workplace that actually likes (and has) a decent watch?

  12. The MBW will accept genuine parts, so the insert should work OK as well as the T-39. Here is my MBW based 1665. Gen insert, Crystal, crown, hands, movement, bracelet and endlinks. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
