  1. You guys could try the contact I've given TickleShoes to see if he can get you gen ones (if it should be of great importance...) Also... I guess it's safe to say now that the 114060 3130 is most likely also custom... So there we go. The Yuki "3135" with a "free" watch included, and also 2 extra movement options. This thread is awesome.

  2. Call me fickle but I've bought/sold this watch so many times. What's not to like? Why get rid of it? Why buy it again? Who knows... All I know is that this watch is pretty much perfect. Maybe this is the reason why I cut it from my collection. Maybe it's boringly perfect? Or maybe it's boring? Right now I like it again

  5. Hi Guys, Many of you know me well as I have been active on the forum for nearly 4 years now. I've actually been collecting watches, both gen and rep, for nearly 25 years now and have upwards of 35 watches at this point, mostly reps with few gens thrown in for good measure. I spend considerable time on that, but it is not my only interest. I am also a writer and have been working on several books for nearly 5 years now. I recently self-published my first release on Amazon a couple of days ago. Over my time collecting I've found that many of the same people who enjoy watches also possess and interest in automobile related things. Many are actually Auto enthusiasts and I am too, having restored nearly 60 classic cars during my 70 years on this earth. The book is in the Science Fiction genre and is primarily about Time Travel. However the impromptu time machine happens to be a nicely restored Jaguar XK 120 roadster. The book also includes many examples of cars from the 1930's to through the future year of 2037, in their natural habitat. Coincidentally a couple of vintage mechanical watches from the 1950's also play an important role. The name of the book is "JOY RIDE" and it is the first in a series known as "SHINY SIDE UP". The next one is in the editing phase and should be available before the end of summer. It's working title is "RIDING SHOTGUN". For those of you may be interested here is a link to the book on Amazon. 6. We should make a PDF thread... I have some more juicy stuff, however, mostly Panerai related. Anyone else have anything interesting?

  7. TC has stopped his blog. Speculation is that it is because he has started selling his own brand watches or because having a blog makes him too obvious a target for legal action. Neither are absolutely proved. In the meantime he can be reached by PM. Alternatively there are a number of CONUS based watchsmiths within the forum who could doubtless rectify this issue. In truth it is maybe due for a service strip down about now anyway.

  8. It is and it works fine for 3135. But I'd suggest this one. He's a watchsmith from CA and machines these himself. They're reps of the real Rolex holders and are AMAZING! He's also making me one for eta 28XX and custom mainspring winders. https://www.ebay.com/itm/112283564583

  11. Hey gang! Exciting new update. I had a chance to strip down a JF Explorer with a 3132 and... its different! In a good way [emoji4] Several parts have been changed to eliminate the date function. It's not just a 3135 with date parts missing. They actually changed the keyless so that the crown only has 2 positions! Super cool. The distance plate for dial (3130-148), setting jumper (3130-230) and cover mechanism (3130-236) are all gen spec. The yoke itself (3130-240) is different and it uses a custom yoke for setting wheel instead of the base 3135-266 but it's a nice development. I haven't measured the seconds wheel or minute pinion but the hour wheel is different too! 3132 is on the right

  13. Anytime SBM, that's what the forum is for. I tread softly along the fine line separating raving insanity and lucid moments of ingenuity. The issue is I've no idea which is which mostly.

  15. Gotcha, that's why the softcover is not here yet. Everything has to be re-formatted to fit the physical dimensions as opposed to digital and its way beyond my capabilities. I credit digital with giving me the opportunity to realize a life long desire in writing. I do all my writing, research and publishing right here on my computer. I never anticipated that I would become grateful for that typing course they made me take in the 10th grade. It took most of my life to get to the point of acceptance though. Back in the mid-1960's I was an illustrator and had the opportunity to get into computer technology on the ground floor, at the defense contractor I worked for then. I cross trained for several months and got so frustrated that I quit the job. My good buddy at the time stuck with it and is one of the foremost IT experts in Las Vegas currently. Who knew?

  16. First of welcome to the forum and please keep us updated on your journey. I probably know less than you about Day Dates, so I will leave the advice to others. There are a couple of guys I can think of who are known for modding these and both are Stateside, there are also a few guys in the US who would be able to help with repairs.

  17. Aside other projects I'm still trying to make "colored" Gilt dials ... I mean Gilt dials with some lines colored instead of gilt. A few days ago I showed you my first attempt for a "Red Depth Gilt dial" but I had a HUGE problem with the color applied under the decal. It was, IMHO, a nice try but the Red Depth was very bulky and lef a "lump" on the decal ... so not very useful. This week I made my second attempt, not with a "Red Depth" but with a SYL. Everything is gilt and black, apart from the "Serpico Y Laino" which is "shiny white". It's not a complete success because I have designed the SYL letters too little and too thin so it's not very flashy or even easily readable. But this point is quite easy to rectify (just need to spend some time on Illustrator). The VERY GOOD point is that the colored line is not bulky anymore ... everything is smooth. And it means that in a few days (or weeks) I'll be able to show you a nice "Red Depth Gilt Dial" First pic - the dial "fresh" from applying - not finished nor varnished Second pic - same dial (still nor varnished) in the 6538 I used as a guinea pig for my thread "Easiest way to drill vintage case lugs for 2mm bars when you're a city dweller" The next one will get some lume
