  1. Time to decide. :wounded1:

What we are left then ??:

    - Girard-Perregaux The Sea Hawk

    - Breguet Transatlantique XXL

    - EBEL 1911 BTR GMT

BTW: I love them all. If one of these comes up (plus some others previously eliminated) I will propably get them ..... though I will not loose my sleep for them.

Here we go. Elimination Technique again.

    ELIMINATED

    ---------------

    - Girard-Perregaux The Sea Hawk: Love it. 42 mm watch. But another divers watch ??? Not for any timne of the day. So I will skip this one

    - EBEL 1911 BTR GMT: Love it. 44.5 mm watch. Unusual. Not any reps around. Dressy and casual. But ... I dont know ... maybe the screws on the bezel ??? My heart is bleeding .... but I will skip this one (sorry By_Tor).

    MY WINNER :1a:

    --------------

    - Breguet Transatlantique XXL: 42.5 watch. Dressy and casual. No reps arounds, 10+ combos to choose with. One of the best dials. An "Aeronavale" model can also be produced out of this. Ladies models also availbale (if any ladies want to vote)

  2. Hard to decide , no ???

I will follow the "decide by elimination" technique.

ELIMINATED (personal opinions - dont want to offend anybody)

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    - Blancpain 50 Fathoms: Not really. (Ugly Rubber band. With this bezel reminds me Chanel watches. With SS band looks ... very common and usual watch. Is it 40 mm dia ??)

    - Iwc Aquatimer: Not really. Soon the market will be packed with these (CHN rep makers are already make them)

    - Chopard Pro One: Even though nice, Not really (reminds me very much the Paul Picot Prol and I think I have already seen some bad reps of it in ioffer so to a degree is already out there)

    - Tifany & Co: Aren't these guys making fashion Jewelry ??? Not really.

    - Lange: Not really (I have already 4 dress watches)

    - Zenith: Not really ( With this bezel with stars looks like an "Americas Army watch" .... and the ss band ...is that kitchen tool for making cheese salad ?)

    .....now we are left with:

    - GP Sea Hawk

    - Brequet

    - Ebel

    Hard to decide ...... thinking , thinking ..... :g:

  3. I think we need to look at this from a dealer's perspective with regards to popularity in sales.

Am I wrong in assuming that it starts with how many know about the brand, or the make of the

    watch we select ?

Size has also to play a part,..

Some of us love 44mm watches, some 40, but what is the most popular and user friendly ?

We also need to consider the thickness of the piece.

What are the percentages of those who enjoy a 44mm piece that will absolutely not wear a 40

to 42mm, and vice versa ?

Does a Dress, or Sports model hold the most potential ?

Am I clear that the SeaHawk, Blancpain 50 Fathoms..the Vintage 300m are three of our major

    suggestions. ?

What other sersious contenders am I missing ?

Please chime in again, with the above thoughts

in mind or add some flesh onto the guidelines that I am proposing.... :g:

    @ RT

I think you should also add to the above conditions, the possibilities (which may be hard to guess) that the watch we choose is also planned to be produced by the other CHN rep makers.

If that happens , will Jay be able to compete with the CHN rep makers which will fill up the market with the same watch and at a lower cost ???

I guess they can produce cheapper than him, there will be more competition, ..... cost wise it will be an attractive option any more.

This exactly (+/-) is what happened with the IWC Aquatimer Cousteau Diver and combos of it.

Others will start making it soon , so I guess is out of the list.

I also think that OMGAs, RX, BR, TAGs, PAM, etc... should also stay out of the list since are potentially replicated by others too.

  4. Oh no , Can't take it any more so many new watches .... the fever starts again: :Jumpy:

    Priorities:

    1) RX EXP II White, with correct date font, long GMT hand and blank rings around the dots (on the way)

    2) OMGA PO 45 mm (yes I am waiting for the 7th version ... it should come)

    3) New AP RO

    4) Breitling Steelfish Superocean (my very first Breitling)

    5) RT/Jay new watch (I guess this will take 4 to 5 months to have it ready)

    6) New IWC Auqatimer C.D. listed here

    7) Jessica's ass pictured above (.... I think I will put this 1st n the list).

.....btw , no Panerais guys ????

  5. Jay (Silix-Prime, for those who don't know him) did put some sort of limit and RT mentioned it in tyhe very first post. Guess what, none of your watches fit the criteria. This makes me think even if he did post more precise details, no-one would read them.

So Jay is Silix. Thanks :)

Then no paypal ??? (if I am not wrong he stopped taking pay pal .... but since I never baught from him cannot really tell).

Regarding the watches that I proposed.

I have red the instructions from RT and I believe others did too.

Though since I am not a movement expert its very likely that some of the watches that I proposed cannot be made .... which also the case with many of the watches proposed here (....still I believe that the Bulgari GMT and the ORIS pointer date can be made with these movements - even Asian 21J can do this).

Any way ... I will wait for the final list and I will vote then.

  6. :Jumpy:

Tens and Hunderds of options here.

@ Richard: If you keep this thread alive for 2-3 more weeks , we will have almost 95% of all the watch brands and models in the market.

I still believe that if Jay (btw , I am asking again , who's Hay ??) does not limit our options to something more specific we are ...... pissing against the wind. :(

We gonna end up with watches that cannot be made for one reason or another (case , bezel , band etc...), hard to find , too expensive to buy, CHN rep makers are also planning to make them soon, etc..... so many many reasons.

Any way .... even though I like many of the watches shown here and I will propably buy them if they ever make them (I doubt that most of them can be made) ...... here are my options:

    1) post-106-1164964356_thumb.jpg post-106-1164964417_thumb.jpg

    2) post-106-1164964277_thumb.jpg post-106-1164964291_thumb.jpg

    3) post-106-1164964456_thumb.jpg post-106-1164964474_thumb.jpg

In any case I will wait for the final pool and I will vote then.

BTW: Are we going to see a prototype before we place the final order ??? Will Jay agree to that ???

  7. He says it must be based on the following movements,..eta-2836/2824/2892/6497.

Also, since he is going to purchase a gen to model the rep from, we should keep the actual

cost of the piece within the realms of acceptability.

Also makes for a watch that is realistic for normal ownership..

    @ Richard ,

    Who's Jay ????

"Absorbing ther Cost of the genuine and a watch that is realistic for normal ownership":

    What does this means ??? 1500 - 2000 - 3000 USD ???

That can make a hell of difference at the time you choose a watch.

Can Jay define / tell us, the aprox lower and higher price limits (for the genuine to be replicated) ???

  8. It seems that our dealers don't really know what HBB will come out or they haven't red that topic (... I think is the first one).

Any way,....... I will try to revive this topic and add a bit of knowledge regarding the HBB.

Here are some different versions (genuine) and the story of the white HBB.

PS: Come on dealers. Give us some info.

  9. :o

Lots of history here. Good to know all these.

Though at the very end, watches are like, food, perfumes, clothes, cars , women, etc... completely subjective and a matter of a personal taste.

Personally I still like PAMs but I also like the variety of other brands too.

    Any way.

The question is if we will see during 2007 some really and trully new and exciting models (like 105, 108, 121, 156,162 etc..) or we will continue with the "face lifting" of existing models and small variations of models which we have already seen here ???? :g:

Who knows ??? If the second one happens (very likely) .... I will be personally very disapointed.

  10. Hmmmm .....

Lets say that PAMs are just .... warm (temparure has fallen quite a lot ... which is normal since you cannot stay hot for almost 3 to 4 years as PAMs did).

Its also quite clear (to me at least) that CHN rep makers are swifting attention to other brands.

For every PAM new model that comes out you get 4 to 5 new models on other brands. That was not case 12 to 22 months ago but it is now.

Also , on the PAM side , the new models that comes out , are not (in many cases) trully new models. Are simple variations of an existing one (eg: North Pole vs North Pole GMT).

12 months from now PAMs will have less fans so then we will see who are true PAM fanatics (less in numbers I guess but not few any way).
