  1. Yeah I agree it's pretty dumb to draw attention to our hobby, and I would personally never do it. BUT at least we get some REAL critical feedback on this current rep model. Again NOT condoning, but at least 1 good thing comes out of this. :shrugs:
  2. The Omega is no longer available because it falls apart at a turn of the crown. I read a story about an astronaut whose watch literally fell apart and he had to fix it while on a mission. Knowing nothing about watches but having an engineering background he fixed it fine, i think even made it better that time around.
  3. the first time i saw a daytona in person i couldnt believe how small it was compared to the pics i've seen. The whole face of the watch and crystal looked more flat than in the pics. I've seen more women than men wearing them for some reason, and it doesnt look too huge for a woman to wear. Never seen a girl wear a full size SMP
  4. Sounds like its not clicking in fully to the winding posistion. Can you manual wind the watch? Could you EVER manual wind the watch?
  5. get a clarks crystal 295C2 and use watchmaterial pearl. OR make the expoxy one for the JO(end result a watchmaterial pearl), if you dont wish to track down a gen from who knows where.
  6. I put the bezel insert number side down on the carpet and hammered out the old pearl using a small phillips driver and my watch makers hammer... Worked perfect and NO damage to either. You can also use the shaft of the driver to widen the insert hole if the watchmaterial pearl doesnt fit as sometimes is the case
  7. looks like its full of puss...pop it! it's very hideous. get a replacement thats *almost* perfect http://www.watchmaterial.com/viewitem.asp?idProduct=1800
  8. what do you guys think of this 1680? http://www.prowatch-polo.com/showpic.asp?ArticleID=377 im interested in putting in an MBK whitedial from ET, wonder if it would fit? and overall how accurate is this and upgradability? (ignore the red sub dial i guess) 2nd: MID-size Yachtey http://www.prowatch-polo.com/showpic.asp?ArticleID=992 ; )
  9. well thats ONE way to wind your watch...
  10. I found the modern MBK to be better than the noobmariner BUT still a little sloppy compared to the precieved reputation on this board. my specific copy from eurotimez 16610: the crown gaurds were not even in size and the tube was installed at a slight angle. Also the whole bezel ring being too short makes installing a gen insert a pain in the ass as the crystal is too tall and the retaining ring pushes it out if its not shaved, once you do this the crystal is REALLY TOO tall. My route for cases from here on out, TW/WM9. Trying to find a 16610 with lugholes tho, is either Euromariner V3(MBK with stated problems) OR drill virgin holes your self (a big pain in the ass and too easy to screw up your case, i know first hand) as for a 1680 tho. what choice do you have? get a case from eurotimez or try and track down an oldschool MBK. there's nothing better in that price range.
  11. the current WM9 is version 2 with superluminova, better crystal, cgs and bracelet. for about $200 you get all the upgrades that are perfect or too close to call. the one from PT or King or Prowatch is V1 with all the trial and error flaws... still better than noobmariner and possibly an modern MBK without mods.
  12. I would buy it or get the ultimate over $500 perfect wm9 from BK. but for the price the one youre looking is what i would most likely buy

  14. Id say 30m assuming it was assembled correctly and parts were screwed down straight and greased (you may wish to do this simple task yourself) check out king999 s offering of this watch and perhaps Prowatch-polo. Its a good watch for the $300 asking price. Prowatch has the decorated movement which is nice looking, but no one will see... And if they did the jig would be up anyways... King999 may sell for less but minus the decorated mvmnt
  15. gen crown, clarks crystal (maybe insert)and its good to go?
  16. That first GMT looks like it's for kids learning to read
  17. There might also be a link on repgeek and this site. It may seem intimidating at first but just follow the pictures and try to grasp the technical info best you can, dont hesitate to post back any questions here if somethings not working out for ya fyi for future: only use 1.20mm driver to release stem and pull out stem in manual wind pos
  18. Theyre very good as a $100 beater watch and look awesome, but are also VERY flawed. So if youre very rough on stuff reserve this watch for playtime but I wouldnt use it as a showcase piece. Even moddin it to its limit(crown crown tube eta mvmnt insert +tools needed) which would put you in or close to wm9 territory it still will have few tragic flaws. So if youre looking for something accurate and the jewel of your collection as far as Rolexs go invest in the wm9 no regrets, but if youre just looking for a cheap thrill and want the BEST value get a noob... Or get both... I did* ones for work , ones for going out, both very different model years, and one has lug holes*
  19. Instead of getting a few noobs why not a bk wm9 v2 which is 99% perfect. Build quality is superior to any noobfactory watch. As for an answer to your question im not sure but probably. I know eurotimez 100% does have it and you can request shots of your watch prior to shipping at no additional charge.
  20. What did you use to push the release button? Same thing happened to me . You either pushed the button in too far or pulled the crown stem out in the wrong posistion. Use the search and find bazzs guide to keyless works and follow the tutorial... Worked for me twice in two different screw ups to the keyless works
  21. I like the 5512, then again I also like the 1680. the 5513 would be more believable, so if youre trying to pass it off in educated circles it might be like waving a red sub around.
  22. NICE! that means more time to try and beat your watch collecting habit ; )
  23. Depends on the model of watch largely. Chrono forget about it. What model of watch do you have and we'll take it from there
