  1. Didn't regret going gen. Didn't regret going Quartz either.
  2. You really do like that watch!
  3. Rep crystal? Mines a gen bezel assembly and fits perfect with gen crystal.
  4. Shouldn't be any difference. The gen tube will be slightly too small for the rep, so will need to be epoxied in. You'll need gen crown of course too.
  5. Looks very good and there's so many affordable nato's out there. It's an easy alternative strap to wear on any watch for a bond occasion! No need to buy the omega £150 nato!
  6. 090ST1231 is the part number for the case tube. Here's a really good link for a list of all the gen parts. http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=5925
  7. Still the Franken smp. Just installed a gen crystal this morning. Makes a world of difference!
  8. If they have made a mistake and you knew they have given you more than you should have recieved, then it's a straight up theft im afraid. Or may be classed as retaining a wrongful credit. Either way still a criminal offence in the uk. Oh and ignorance is no defence in law.
  9. And maybe this one later. My Franken upo.
  10. New to me Franken smp. About to have installed a gen crystal, crown and tube. Without doubt My favourite dial on any watch ever. Thanks resistor.
  11. I'd say liquid metal. The 42mm crpos are very thick on the wrist. Personal opinion.
  12. I have on its way an Asian movement 007 40th anniversary. Which has similar he valve position and ok looking crown guards. I'm just worried that as a cheap rep it may not fit gen parts. My first plan was just pop in an eta 2824 movement hopefully and have a piece very similar to yours. Yours looks great. Just what I'm trying to achieve actually. This is the case I have on the way. I plan on putting in the dial, hands, crystal and bezel I've already got and an ETA 2824 movement with correct Datewheel.
  13. Anyone got any thoughts on using the new smp ceramic bezel case as a base for a Franken. I know the caseback and he valve are incorrect (right position at least) but with a gen dial, hands, bezel and crystal from the older smp....could it work?
  14. In the U.K. even old 2531 models are around £1200. Like I said I just want a beater Franken to stop me spending that £1200 which is a third of my rolex sub Grail! I have sourced a gen dial and bezel for less than £100. I've got a case heading my way that cost £40 but not sure if it's right yet. So all I need is hands and a movement maybe another £100 and I have a great Franken beater for under £250. Allowing me to save for the gen sub.
  15. So im planning on an smp Franken. If I scratch my smp itch with a cheaper Franken it will hopefully allow me to save for my gen rolex Grail. I know a closed factory is out of the question pretty much these days. So what's next? What's the next best rep case? I plan to install a 2824, gen dial, hands and bezel. Maybe a crown and tube at some stage too. Any help or a point one right direction would be great. Matt
  16. I get what you mean. So far the tube has stayed put. But I'm using the watch without a stem at the money as a temporary measure til I get a new stem to fit properly.
  17. This thing is cursed! In trying to release the stem from the crown it snapped inside the crown and I now have a useless crown! I will order a 20mm ETA stem and new gen crown from cousins and hope it's a straight fit without need to trim. Anyone got any info on this from previous mods? Any help much appreciated at this frustrating time!!
  18. Thanks, when I screwed the crown down it didn't go all the way down to sit flush on the case. There is a tiny .5mm lip on the tube where it meets the case and this remains exposed when I screw the crown down. It is very tight to push the crown in, so maybe the stem is a fraction too long.
  19. Bloody JB weld hasn't held again, as soon as the crown is screwed on it slowly prises the tube from the case!! One more try and then maybe I should try a glue epoxy like araldite?
  20. That's true. I got one for my 42mm planet Ocean from cousins. They started using the new crystal around the time the 2500d planet Oceans came around (2010 ish) so it's really only pre 2010 models that had the blue hue.
