    Not sure which crystal, it was from Josh and im actually glad it's got the blue tint as it resembles the older 2500 planet oceans a little more accurately. That's the model im trying to recreate.

    It's the 45. The good old UPO. More or less interchangeable with all gen parts.

    I'm in the process of building another Franken UPO with the intention of keeping this one for good. So I want it to be pretty perfect. I managed to buy a part built one with gen date wheel, dial and hands already fitted. I thought id have a bash at the other mods myself. So I got the gen black bezel, and fitted the entire bezel assembly rather than just the insert. I also installed a Crpo crystal and gen crown and tube. Had some issues with the crown and tube, first the stem length was too short on the gen crown, when I sorted that with a longer stem, the pressure from the crown when screwed on was able to lift the tube back out of the case, the JB weld hadnt set strong enough. So I've reset the tube again. Fingers and toes are crossed hoping all I have to do tomorrow is re insert the crown stem and voila! Anyway here's a quick couple of shots.

    Are you thinking of the old style or the new ceramic? The best bond style smps are referred to as the 'closed factory' smps. The factory that made them closed I think! These are pretty rare but do pop up in private sales. The other factories have never really got close or tried too hard for that matter, making the crown guards too big, he valve too low down, case too thick etc etc. The new ceramic smp reps on the other hand are actually pretty good out of the box and can be sourced from any of the TD's.

    I'm inclined to say gen. The omega writing on the clasp just looks more gen than my rep and the centre of the omega symbol is centred with the e of omega. My UPO bracelet is slightly off in that respect probably cos of the text size being slightly different. The endlinks look gen too.

    Just check the bracelet width. I popped my grande date on a 20mm nato and there was a gap either side. Suggesting it may actually be a 21mm. I haven't got anything to measure it with just now but the 500m aquaracer is a 20mm.

    One of the beauties of this watch is the price, this cost me a total of £172 delivered by dhl in 4 days. The gen retails in the uk at £1750 so this thing is 10 times cheaper for an almost identical piece that will never get called out because quartz tags are modest watches.

    Not sure about water resistance, pretty confident I will shower in mine. According to Sead it's water resistant to 50ft.

    Watch posted on 23rd and arrived on 27th to UK from Singapore. I can't believe how good this watch is! I've had lots of reps this one takes the crown.

    Well I've pulled he trigger on the black dial version from sead. I saw the gen in the flesh last week and was impressed with the look and feel of the watch.

    Just seen a gen one of these in the flesh and if the rep is as accurate as you say, could be my next purchase.

    Only thing I'm now dwelling on is the shade of the bezel, I know this is black but it constantly looks grey cos of the light on it. Does a gen ceramic bezel have the same effect cos when I look at google images it alway looks more black?

    Mine arrived this morning. Fantastic packaging from Josh may I add. The watch is very nice under has a real quality feel about it actually. It a bit thicker than I'd hoped but when on the wrist it's not too noticeable. Overall a very well constructed ootb rep.

    I put a gen crown and tube onto my UPO. Really simple mod actually and made a world of difference.

    Interesting tip regarding the pearl, this was my biggest worry about the watch. Are you sure the po crystal won't be too thick? I used a po crystal on the old smp chrono and it sat a good 1mm thivcker than the smp crystal

    They advertise it as superlume too! Doesn't sound very super!

    Ordered my black smp ceramic from him the other day and service to date has been good. Worth the few extra dollars I hope!

    Maybe a gen minute hand from the old style smp would work as its green lume? Available from cousins or ofrei.

    I've always been so frustrated with rep pearls, almost always gone for a gen bezel but on this model it may be difficult.
