Mine has gen dial, my modder installed it without a problem. The mod isn't necessary, but many of us like to Franken a watch. For me the main focus of a watch is the dial, it's totally personal but I like to look and know its perfect visually. Hell I know it's a rep but it is pure personal preference. I have to agree the rep dial has great lume but when you compare it to the gen and start comparing then the font issue and print can be seen to be inferior on the rep, but you really do have to look and wOuld need a gen in hand to compare with. So ultimate answer, if you want to Franken the watch go for it. If you just want a great rep, get gen insert and wear it. Mine has gen insert and a gen crystal too. I'm waiting on a gen crown then finito.

The TC sub is great with a gen insert. It's even better with a gen dial and crystal too. Here's mine

Interesting, so will the gen crown fit straight onto the rep stem and rep tube? If so I'll do it myself, I'm just not happy about altering stem lengths!

The gen crystal was for sale on a Rolex forum, it's has a tiny mark under the date window so I got it real cheap but it matches the look I'm going for. I asked the seller about a dial and he happened to be able to source a dial from a 2006 sub so it was also a real stroke of luck. Crown will eventually be added but the TC crown is good enough and I'm reluctant to attempt the mod myself, I just want to enjoy the watch a little before it goes back for more mods. Thanks

After months of impatiently waiting my TC sub returned from the modder with the gen dial installed. I refitted the crystal and bezel et voila it's now complete with the following mods: Gen dial Gen insert Gen crystal Shaved rehaut I have based this Franken on a 2003 Y series sub without lug holes. I can say the lume on the TC hands is a very good match to the gen dial, which shows this upgrade isn't as necessary as say, the insert mod. but personally for me, the dial is a major part of the watch, the font difference on the lettering was important in my opinion and it's just good to glance down and know that the dial is perfect. I'm considering a gen crown in the future but for now it's done and I'm moving swiftly onto completing my PO Franken next.

Looks good. Does the stem need any alteration to fit the gen crown or is it just unscrew the old crown from the stem and screw on the new one? I'm interested as i plan to do this mod myself at some point in the future.

Seem to have misplaced the spring bars for my TC sub! Doh. What width do I need to keep the endlinks flush? Ps that's my TC sub with gen dial, insert and crystal with shaved rehaut.

when installing a gen crystal, do i place the gasket in the case first then press the crystal? Or attach gasket to crystal then press into place? I dont want to bend or tear my gasket. Thanks in advance guys.

Ha ha, I had a sneaky few bids on that bezel myself and you pipped me to it! Glad to see its gone to good use and your watch looks really good. So I'm not bitter about it! (much!) So I'm going to pull the trigger on a fen crystal and bezel next month, will there be any fitting problems? I'm going to order a gen gasket.

Makes me look forward to getting mine back. It's had gen dial installed and has gen crystal. I just need to reinstall my bezel and gen insert and I consider to have myself the perfect sub. Gotta love those TC subs.
