  1. This may be a dumb question for Chris, but if you are essentially custom building these, why can't the DG4813 be installed at the factory? I am very interested in this watch when the no-rehaut version is done, but since I have no movement swapping skills I will probably end up having to go with your ETA version. It would be much more fun to have a pre-installed DG4813 at $300 and spend the other $175 (vs the ETA price) on some of the gen parts that will fit. Just a thought ...
  2. The Pelican cases have the pre-scored "pick and pluck" foam which makes them very easy to configure. Without having mine in front of me to confirm, I would think that removing a 3 square wide by 7 square long section and 3 squares deep you would have a perfect slot for a watch (I think the squares are 1/2" cubes). If you have a lot of big watches, maybe go 4 squares wide. Not sure why you'd need custom foam. Maybe for the "pillows" but I'm not sure that's even necessary. You could just remove one complete 3x7 layer from the top and one 3x3 layer from the end for the watch "pillow". Since you would be keeping the width of the foam intact this way the watches should not slide around in the slots. I think the foam is dense enough for this purpose, although I suppose it could break down over time.
  3. Or you could just buy a generic Pelican case. The 1200 series should be configurable to hold six watches ... and can be found for roughly $50.00 USD. http://www.pelican.com/cases_detail.php?Case=1200
  4. And here I thought I was the only one that still owned a camera that shoots FILM ...
  5. He apparently was also a Rolex fan ... http://rolexblog.blogspot.com/2008/07/stor...rolex-king.html
  6. Quick pic of my newly arrived 3717 from Bruce79. Probably won't leave my wrist for the rest of the week ...
  7. I have a 6.75" wrist, and I think it is the perfect size for me. I can carry off the 44mm PAM's also, but this one just seems to fit "right".
  8. I like my 44mm Panerai GMT, but so far anything bigger had just not worked well for me (6.75 inch wrist). I am debating the Skyland right now, but I don't think I can pull it off.
  9. Yep, I was surprised to learn it wasn't available too. I'm sure they aren't out of a7750's in China, so it must be model specific. Turned out well for me though .... I snapped up Bruce79's 3717 that came up for sale literally just minutes after I got the e-mail. His is the older version without the lume on the numbers, so I might be in better shape for mods anyway ...
  10. Sorry to report this but I was just informed this afternoon that the 3717 is no longer available with the 28k A7750 movement from Eurotimez. They can only provide the 21k movement. I wasn't planning on swapping for the ETA 7750, so I'm going to have to find one someplace else ...
  11. Can only speak for myself, but my watch actually kept perfect time ... better than many of my gens. The only issue was that the GMT hand stopped moving. If I didn't actually need it (I travel through many time zones frequently) I would not have bothered to get it fixed. I have the ETA version, not the Asian.
  12. I have the wrong hand stack ETA 2836-2 in my Panerai. GMT hand stopped moving after 3 months. My source was kind enough to offer to fix it, so I hope I have better luck when it returns. After reading The Zigmeister's review, I am keeping an eye out for a 2893-2 and will probably swap movements if I can ever find one at a decent price.
  13. This helps .... thanks for the pic! I was given an Invicta OG II, which is a 47mm and it hasn't gotten any wrist time because I always felt it was too huge on my wrist (well that and it's an Invicta). Perhaps I'll dig it out and wear it for a few days to see if I change my mind.
  14. Great pics and review, but damn ... I have been drooling over this watch since it first arrived and didn't realize it was this big. I have a small wrist (6.75") and have never been able to carry off that size. A 44mm PAM seems to be about my limit. Oh well, back to the drawing board I guess ...
  15. 'Some' replica spam? You are lucky then ... I get at least a dozen EVERY SINGLE DAY from replica sellers. Obviously some people are stupid enough to buy from them ...
  16. Nice .... The more I see the Skyland, the more I want one. I'm not sure the rubber goes with the bling of the Evo either, but then again I'm not much for diamonds on my watches in general so that could be affecting my judgement ...
  17. Obviously, from the post it is definitely not Rolex doing the hiring ... it's a dealer at best, and probably not even an AD. The education requirements are laughable. I love companies that only want to hire "top grads" for sales positions. I've run enough businesses to know where the education requirements are necessary, and where they are not. Give me someone that barely graduated from high school, knows watches as well as many of the folks in this forum, and who also had a paper route when they were a kid. I guarantee he they would outsell all the Harvard grads and MBA's put together. IMO sales is an art form. No formal training can make you a great salesperson. An "OK" one maybe, but not great. Great salespeople are a different breed, and I salute all of you who are. I also hire them whenever I can ...
  18. I have never seen the Indy 500 with a black bezel .... just the Formula 1 version.
  19. I pulled the trigger a couple of days ago with Eurotimez on a 3717 ... communication has been great so far and ordering was easy. Will be happy to update you when I get the watch, but given his reputation and extra QC, I'm sure I'll be pleased when it gets here.
  20. Yes it already has made a huge impact. Husker football is all about family and tradition. Callahan killed off all of that and more during his tenure. It's back now, and Pelini respects what Husker football is all about. He also has a pretty good old ball coach to bounce things off if he needs to. Personally, I think the talent level was much better last year than they showed .... think the kids all lost faith in Callahan and the system (especially on defense). If Pelini can get them to play to their talent, we'll be better than everyone thinks we will be. I still don't think that makes us conference champs, but I am not expecting any blowouts either.
  21. Yep, and that one came more recently than the last Colorado appearance. Since you brought up 'this millenia' ... The Huskers are 65-36-0 ... the Buffs .... 50-51-0. Ouch! Not even .500. By the way, how many National Championships has Colorado won? Oh yeah ... 1. And Nebraska has won how many SINCE then ... Oh yeah ... 3. You're right .... this is fun .... Buffaloes are such easy targets .... In all seriousness though ... I'll be happy with 7-5 this year from us with a bowl game appearance.
  22. All this knowledge coming from a Colorado fan .... But ... you would know about being the laughing stock ... of course you probably want to forget that 2-10 record in 2006 after getting spanked in the 2005 Big 12 Championship by Texas ... what was the score? Oh yeah ... 70-3. Thanks but I'll stick with my guys ... see you in November ... Series standings ... 46-18-2
  23. BO BIG RED! Yeah, we sucked last year, but new coach, new attitude .... better results ....
  24. I am having a similar problem, but don't understand "then stop and reverse the winding crown just enough to reset the date in the middle of the date window" of your instructions. When I reverse the winding crown all that happens is the GMT hand moves, the date never re-centers as you describe. Help? Thanks in advance.
