  1. Saw it this morning ... first showing of course ... Would agree with those who thought it good, but not a good as Casino Royale. Definitely heading down the 'Bourne' path, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Stunt work was great ... plot a little thin though. The interactions with the Bond girls seemed to have been either added as an afterthought, or essential parts ended up on the cutting room floor. And that poor Aston Martin ....
  2. I placed an order from Chris that is still in transit to Ohio. I paid for the EMS shipping option. Package left CN on 11/11, arrived in customs in Chicago last night (11/13), and was released from customs this morning (11/14). Not sure when it will get to my home, but ET said to expect 5-10 business days for the entire trip. I think I'm in pretty good shape to be at the low end of the range.
  3. Homer sells them on eBay. This one has an ETA 2836, instead of a 2824. He has a collector's section here, so you might be able to contact him directly. I bought his unbranded PAM GMT. Good guy to deal with.
  4. Am guessing the sub-dial spacing different is because that version has a quartz movement. Of course the price reflects that ...
  5. I just ordered one from Eurotimez this week. Great communication and he does QC the watches before sending. He might be a little higher on price, but IMO the fact that he checks the watches before sending is worth it. Will post pics when I get it.
  6. As the tax law sits now, most people won't pay capital gains when they sell their houses anyway, so that doesn't help. The first $250,000 (single) or $500,000 (married) is excluded from capital gains tax. You can use that exclusion every two years.
  7. Well, if you are trying to predict the outcome .... Currently both BetFair and Intrade have Obama favored at roughly 90%-10% to win the election. Both were spot-on in 2004, accurately predicitng all 50 States. Of course should the Redskins win tonight (last home game before the election) against the Steelers, then history predicts McCain (incumbant party) will win (correct 17 of the last 18 elections). And, last but not least ... Missouri has gone with the winner every election since 1904 except Eisenhower in 1956 (25 of the last 26 elections). Right now, a statistical dead-heat.
  8. Certainly the best comedy on US television currently. For guys, maybe the best ever. Consistently well written, and just enough 'over the top' without being stupid. Jake was better when he was younger, but he can steal a scene with the best of them ... And don't forget to read the vanity cards at the end of the show, particularly 147 and 172. http://www.chucklorre.com/index.php
  9. Yes, this is true. If you get the high beat movement, you will either have to pick up a set of low-beat hands, or will have to modify them to get them to fit on the ETA movement. The subdial hands are slightly too big, and the large second hand is too small if memory serves. There are work arounds, but it's a straightforward swap with the low-beat movement, so if you know you're going to do it, then I would suggest getting the low-beat to start. Also, go for the ETA day/date wheel swap at the same time. It's a must-do mod for the 3717 as long as you have it apart.
  10. In the off-the-beaten-path catagory ... Clerks - started Kevin Smith's Career Chasing Amy - another of Smith's ... maybe his best actually Roger Dodger - hard to describe, but a dark movie about a loner trying to teach his nephew the art of scoring with women American History X - disturbing subject matter, but wonderful acting job by Edward Norton
  11. If someone from the US were wanting to make the trip, how tough is getting a visa in the CR?
  12. No. Chris is a good guy. On my order with him I didn't hear anything for a few days while he was sourcing the watch. You'll be fine.

"Glad I could help!" ... he types while wearing the 3717 from Bruce's collection ... All kidding aside, this one is a beauty. Wear it well .... even if it's just for a short time.
  14. We have a winner! Me, I'm just a cowboy ...
  15. OK, somone has to say it ... there isn't a body kit that could possibly make a Smart Car "cool". Green ... sure. Practical in a high density urban enviroment ... I'll give you that. Cool ... sorry ... no chance.
  16. Things were quite glum around here in Columbus ... fortunately I'm not from here, and although they are not even remotely in USC's class, at least my Huskers are 3-0. If they keep playing like they did against Ohio State, no one will come close to USC this year.
  17. PT is one of our approved collectors here. His sub forum is here. You will find many good reviews by looking around the site.
  18. I think the details on the parts are in his earlier post here. I am looking to take on this one myself as a first watchbuilding project, minus the beadblasting. Must say I love the end results here, so hope mine comes out as well.
  19. Of the two ... Treadstone Art (without the 'consultancy').
  20. Since it's new, wouldn't it be better to just return it to the dealer he bought it from to be fixed/replaced?
  21. He sent me an email late last week indicating he was on holiday through today (Wed. 9/3). Hopefully you'll hear something later today or tomorrow.
  22. I'm afraid there just isn't a good rep available for the Lange 1. I've been looking myself for a long time. The movement is just too complicated to do well. There are a couple of cheap ones out there with an asian movement of some kind, but they aren't very close to the gen. If it's not the actual brand he wants as much as the style of the watch, you might want to consider the Glashutte Pano Reserve Date as an option. While it is possible if you are lucky to find a Lange 1 for $20,000 in gold, you can pick up the Glashutte for around $6,500 in stainless. Not sure if that's out of the budget or not, but you are looking at 1/3 the price for a similar looking and very high quality watch. There are several versions of the Glashutte besides this one, but it has the same features. Pics from Prestige Time
