  1. You mentioned "quality" and if this is your goal then buy a gen. No reps will have great quality. You will have heart ache when things fall off, break, stop working etc. on reps. I have had all sorts of problems with reps but part of the fun is finding the solutions and fixes. It's like a game. So gens for you.
  2. Ok from personal experience,it's no from me. I have a FG datejust from Joshua since 2006 and the gold plating is just fine. Caveat here is that the watch does not get a lot of wrist time. You will need to polish it though because it does dull over time. i just use toothpaste to polish it
  3. Is Bien Nho the name of the restaurant or the area? any thing to do with the kids, i have two kids with me, so have to find somethings to keep them entertained though i'm sure the cartoon channels would be on the whole time back in the hotel ;( ok will not bother with any watch hunting then.
  4. Thanks for that , but this time round i don't have time to do cambodia. maybe next time.
  5. Thank you all for your replies. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
  6. Thanks for the tips. I am staying at the sheraton in nha trang. looking forward to it. cheers.
  7. Hi, After about 8 months of having this watch, an not too much wrist time, one day the dial just seem to have gone misaligned. See pic. Is this an easy fix , meaning does it take a lengthy time for a watch maker to repair it? I bought this from Andrew Trusty time, it's less than 1 year, do you think it's still under some form of warranty? Cheers p m
  8. Hi, Has anyone on this forum been to Saigon or hails from there? If you have any tips on what is interesting to see or places to eat in saigon, please do share. I will only be there for about a week and will spend most of the time in Saigon though I have also planned a side trip to Nha Trang for the resort there. Let me know what you recommend. Lastly. do they have any places that sell reps? Might go have a look if there is one. Cheers P M
  9. Try email him as he's more responsive to email. He's not really on this forum much, I think.
  10. You can sell it here. I think anything that is not true gen e.g. superfranken included will be frown on in Ebay.
  11. welcome! take time to browse and learn, there's wealth of knowledge here.
  12. 28 is auspicious number in canto, means "prosper easily".
  13. I know it varies, I had mine done for about USD80. There are a number of folks in this forum that can help too.
  14. quite funny that the term lift is such a british word that we don't think much about it.but if you have been to any of the commonwealth countries, most hotels would have used the word lifts instead of elevators.
  15. btw MBS has all the watch shops of most of prestige brands.
  16. thanks for all your welcome. my stay has been very enjoyable. Singapore great tourist place.great food too. ate too much.
  17. Hehe, that could be a possibility, but he was staring for a good few seconds. so either he's trying to pick if it's a rep or admiring the "gen" that he thought it was.i just assumed the latter.
  18. Taking my 390N with me on a business trip since it's a more casual business setting. The 390N seems to grow on me, the gold hands is a joy to look at. Was on the lift going to my hotel room and caught the chap beside me staring at the watch. Was a good feeling. Got the watch from Trusty.
  19. I'm certain it's fake but I was kind of hoping someone could chip on the obvious tells from the pics, though that is bit difficult too since there are pictures of two different watches. How can the seller be this dumb? I just find it funny that the seller is daring to try this and not even put up a proper ad in ebay. i'm just hoping no one is dumber to have bought it.
  20. Hi, IWC experts please chip in, seems bit cheap for an IWC: http://www.ebay.com/itm/IWC-Mens-Day-Date-Black-Dail-Timing-Gents-watch-/111037301438?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item19da56c2be Thanks, P M
  21. Fisch, Happy belated birthday! I guess it boils down to what you care, is it good lume, accuracy, the style, strap etc. The way I choose is based on balancing my collection, try to get a nice ecletic mix if you can call it that. a balance of sports watchers, leather straps, SS, casual elegance, formal etc. Cheers PM
  22. Fully agree. It's only the folks in this forum that will bother to look for flaws and be able to pick them. The rest of the 99.999999% will not know the difference. Case in point, I brought my rep (a Baume & Mercier) to a watch repairer to fix the bracelet. He looked at the watch , commented on the brand and got me a replacement clasp which incidentally fit. So the rep bracelet could take an OEM part and he can't tell it's a rep. Btw the only way to tell it's a rep on that watch is the fonts on the datewheel. Who in the world would bother checking font types except nuts like us
  23. I agree, been to similar places,e.g. mbk shopping mall in bangkok and was overwhelmed but not impressed. its hard to find good ones and even then you can't reallt know what movements they have in them. btw thanks for sharing. enjoy your writeup
