Champions League/Premier League 2007/2008
docblackrock replied to Everythingape's topic in The looney bin
I hereby tender my resignation from this thread with immediate effect. -
Now that's just unkind. However, I believe there's some mindless drones banging on the gates of RWI
-
Quite. Physical security is still the most reliable and reassuring.

Ah, the question we dare not ask for fear we already know the answer and make Ry feel even worse. Never understood web-based services to be honest. Paranoia is healthy sometimes. Local backups, downloaded email, never keep anything on remote servers is my motto. That way if it goes [censored] up, you can burn the house down and walk away with your stuff intact. As for someone using your old account, I don't know anything about Yahoo, but surely there must be some sort of fail-safe security in which they can at least put a block on the account?

Crap, cannot imagine how sick to your stomach you must feel. BASTARDS!!!! I'm sure, someone here will know someone who can help If you...no wait WHEN you do get back in, maybe use a password that's a little more secure? Longer, more random, think monkeys writing Shakespeare secure Will cross my fingers tightly for you

Indeed it does my simian friend, indeed it does... *plippp* You hear that? Sound of someone's bubble bursting But at 1-0 down at HT to some Turkish minnows right now I just pray to god we can pull it round and do the business at the weekend with a fit Torres and hopefully Agger back. -
There have been a number of members who have been 'scammed' by Ken (Honpo's US representative) - in that WU money sent, no watch received, comms ended there And yes, they USED to have some great Japan-only models (Rolex 1655, PAM Ti 194) but the site looks much more ordinary these days. My advice? Stay clear.

No problem - I'm happy to defer to your ownership I just knew they were black not silver, wasn't aware they were still shiny too.
-
The bad news... Dial is not great. Print quality of upper dial text is poor and the white dials should have black matt metal hour indices not shiny 'silver' ones. Datewheel font is also bad - that horrible thick bold font. 24hr 'GMT' hand - the red painted stem has bled over onto the triangle, not a good look. (sorry but you did ask ) Good news.. A few mods here and there and you'll have a very nice Explorer

Ken, nope, the T-word I used (with spaces heh heh) is the one that's censored. Why when "bastard" isn't? Bloody RWG nanny state

Hold on folks, I don't think this is a pearl fix update as such. Sure it looks MUCH more centred than the drunken pearls seen on most so far, but I'm told it's just luck what you get, not dealer-specific, although obviously the drop shippers are at a disadvantage. Now I hear the Skyland is a long way off, the Blackbird urge is getting harder to resist!

Oh I've come across this attitude MANY times It's essentially a combination of: - weak mind - lack of aesthetic bone in their miserable body - no individual thought/sheep mentality - 'keeping up with the Jones' ' - small genitals Otherwise summed up in a perfect all-encompassing word: T o s s e r ( I can't believe "[censored]" is censored!!!)
-
Sure. although I'm betting those first 50 are already spoken for. Same demographic as European buyers probably. Actually, in the case of Omega, fans of the marque steer well clear of the 007 versions - deemed tacky and a sell-out - even resale isn't enhanced due to the 'limited' editions of 5,000-10,000.

Not in a Chinese factory I'm guessing

I'm glad a lot of rich Brazilians will be putting their hand in their pocket to help out disadvantaged children - there is an unpleasantly ethnic gaping divide between rich and poor in that country. Although call me cynical but I would be interested to know what slice of the $12.5m will go to the Foundation The official blurb... The Ayrton Senna Institute A non-profit-making organisation founded and run by Viviane Senna, the sister of the racing driver, the Ayrton Senna Institute has been active for thirteen years in Brazil. It was created in tribute to the values and ideals of Senna, who dreamt of bringing dignity and equality to his native country, of which he was very proud. The main aim of the Institute is to offer young Brazilians the chance to build on their skills. It has therefore developed, tested and evaluated education systems specially adapted to children not only to improve their schooling, but also their social development. Eight million children and youngsters in 25 provinces of Brazil have already benefited from these programmes. Association with Hublot Hublot has always been an ardent supporter of the cause of disadvantaged children through its own Hand-in-Hand Foundation. Hublot thus occasionally takes part in Charity events organised by other Foundations to come to their aid, or to fight the injustice meted out to them. The Geneva brand's commitment to supporting Viviane Senna bears witness to their common values. Ayrton Senna bequeathed a message of hope to those youngsters, through his sense of humanity, motivation, determination and demand for perfection. According to Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of Hublot: "The supreme luxury is to be able to share. To share our emotions, our joy, our love... We are proud today to be able to share our success with the Institute and thus contribute to the aid given to all these children".

Modded PO - Oh What A Difference A Dial Makes
docblackrock replied to Watchmeister's topic in The Omega Area
The AR makes an AMAZING difference, trust me. You owe it to your PO to get this done However, the DW is NOT exactly the same size, the gen is slightly less square and/or wider, hence the possible DW gap issue I'm banging on about. -

Rob, think we may have got some wires crossed here. I'm not talking about depth - the space between DW/movt and dial. I'm talking about the gap between the edge of the UPO's 2824 datewheel and the lateral border of the dial's date window (although can equally apply to the medial border). Same issue (albeit far less obvious) as the infamous white dialled Explorer IIs a while back. See...? -

What, a genuine Rolex bracelet looking cheap and crappy? No, surely not! -

Not without a gen or AR crystal it doesn't That is the must-have feature IMO. Very nice work though, but one question Kruzer - how's the date window-wheel gap? I had heard it was very slight but noticeable, although I had to look closely in your pics, but it is there. p.s VB - fat crowns? pepsi GMT II? It's MEANT to have a skinny 6mm twinlock -
Good spot. Although maybe better to post this in Auction Scam area

Never had problem with rivetted bracelet on my 1665 - had a lot of wear. But as Nanuq says, a quick check now and again is good practice. I'm sure though I'll swap out for gen folded links or heavy oyster at some point.

I'm not a fan of the HBB, but even I can see this is a shameless take on the Black Magic with a crappy Brazilian coloured second hand, the (admittedly better) strap from the Luna Rossa and a dead (albeit great) man's signature on the featureless dial. Considering Senna was a Heuer/TAG Heuer enthusiast and ambassador, I'm not sure how well this sits. It's just an abuse of the name IMO, sister's charity or not, so I must agree with the marketing bullsh*t/one-hit wonder comments.

Canned air for dust blowing dials?

Agree. There's no substitute for that magic green putty
