Champions League/Premier League 2007/2008
docblackrock replied to Everythingape's topic in The looney bin
A new 'split screen' avatar for vbarrett perhaps??? A slimey untrustworthy cowardly piece of inhuman scum. And some Star Wars character. Mwahahaha.... See you all in a couple of weeks, footie fans -
Thanks The crown swap is not that easy on the 192, involves some case/tube modification. Nope on the crystal, popped the sucker out with my thumbs. Easy. Well 'easy' compared to doing the same with my 187 anyway

Ah, ND Trading source of the hideously expensive N.Thai/Viet cases. Depends is answer to your query. Redial is worth about $150 - seller charges over double that but as we all know there are cheaper sources . So you're left paying best part of $1700 for a standard c.1570. Consider you can pick one of these up in a 70's Date or AirKing for less than a grand, and I'd pass.

Auction link doesn't work so item no. is 110176251858 if you're willing to part with best part of $250?
-
Yep that seller has the OEM strap that came with the gen 192 - very nice it is too. The rep bracelet was fantasy (but looked bloody good) although the (24/22) SS/Ti did come with gens such as the 91 and other SS/Ti cases. BTW Andrew, thanks for the Josh tip on sourcing replacement hands - sadly I've never dealt with him before so I doubt he'd source parts especially for me? By any chance do you want to part with one of your two spare sets? Pic of my 192 fitted with one of Leonello's crowns - crystal now away being AR'd - busy dial, needs it IMO.

Gauging interest on Genuine Swiss 6497-2 highbeat mvmt
docblackrock replied to kye_lin's topic in The Panerai Area
Oh trust me, I wasn't being sarcastic in the slightest, my 'hmmmm' and raised eyebrow were completely without irony. And yet you did relist with a lower price. Funny that. Yet you can afford to seemingly pay $600 for a movement, no sorry you're taking two of them now, so make that $1200 (or is that now reduced to $950?) and are attempting to sell items here (against the rules regardless if you're not a Supporter) that you now know to be misrepresented by your contacts - but don't feel that you can be bothered to support this forum and actually cite affordability as your reason for not donating a measly $20???? How noble of you. (p.s. just so you know, there's the sarcasm right there ) I would have let this go, but such an impassioned defence from yourself only adds fuel to the fire, and begs further questions. An apology and admission you may have been misled would have gone a lot further than aggressively spitting your dummy out of the pram. And you wouldn't have got such a hard time. Contributions are fine and such members are always welcome but for the record "sharing" means information, tips, tricks, sources, articles etc. Not "rare deals" on suspect movements. In retrospect, you may want to have posted pics and asked advice before coming here flouting your wares and posting prices. This is a community and we try to keep an eye out for each other - that takes priority over the odd member having their feelings hurt due to the nature of their communications - if you can't appreciate or understand that then this is no place for you really. -
Jeez the guy just wanted a cheap new laptop and now this thread has turned into "Battle of the IT Nerds"!!!! FWIW in my "amateur" experience of 8 years of Mac use... Defragging a drive running OS X is like running anti-spyware/malware programs - pointless and unnecessary. Same with anti-virus, although I admit perhaps I should be more altruistic and use protection in view of my colleagues' PC-based systems - unfortunately I'm still a selfish user/carrier, who feels it's not my problem if they don't protect themselves. Call it my caring bedside manner However, back OT, I spend a lot of time fine-tuning my maxed-out Powerbook's speed, and the one thing I notice more than anything is the effect whenever the HD gets full, namely the brakes get slammed down hard! Like the human neural pathways I'm more familiar with and that IT architecture is modelled on, if you have no reserve capacity for neural processing, then other auxillary systems are recruited, thereby affecting the interdependent functioning of the entire CNS, neurotransmitters to synapses etc. Unless of course, that is another stupid logical assumption Pug?

Group forming to catch & prevent scammers
docblackrock replied to CISO1969's topic in General Discussion
I agree forming a multifora 'watchdog' is a good idea, although it may be more appropriate to discuss this via PM with Admin/Co-Admins first rather than openly posting. It's just common sense doesn't require a mandate from us, the masses. Although, there will undoubtedly be some politics involved as some people here have been banned for 'scamming' type activities yet continue to operate freely and unblemished on other boards, some even holding mod-level positions. Don't think we need to name names here do we? -
My Ingy returns with AR ! Better pics now !
docblackrock replied to maxmilian's topic in The IWC Area
Nice one Max I rarely venture in the IWC area, but noticed a familiar thread title Looks bloody fantastic, even if I say it, even better than my slightly domed UPO due to the Ingy's flat profile. Same for me, a favourite now made even more of a favourite (like me can you stop staring at it yet? ) -
Thanks mate, would be interested to hear about the side-by-side coating comparison Ah yes, my Riva, she's a real beauty - a very rare small (60cm) Aquarama example but perfectly formed to exact specs including finishing....much better than those crappy quality huge 1 metre-plus RC models.

*HOCKEY PUCK....HOCKEY PUCK!!!!* After all your "me and my gen 1665 in the Alaskan outdoors" talk, I'm surprised you've gone soft already, pfff.....all mouth no trousers I mean, it's been down to classified depths of the oceans and knocked around by your friend aboard a commercial rig, I'm sure it can cope with a lickle ickle crystal swapout Pfff, I mean what's the worst that can happen? You have a spare crystal or two. (p.s. seriously though ignore my jealous baiting, of course if it was mine I'd do it myself with a Bergeon press or take it into somewhere trusted and local, but would not let it out of my sight ever again, never mind entrust it to any postal service/courier - just think of the worst case scenario and how it would haunt you )

You latecomers querying the possibility of a rep Blacksteel, read this entire thread (p.s. I am the OP ) and you'll see Angus has already had conversations with the same factory that made the first and best Ti CA and they are very keen to make it!!! In pre-production stage in fact, and they will do BOTH versions. I have already passed on exact spec of the PVD coating, whether they'll use it or not is another matter although it's not particularly expensive process to reproduce. But prepare yourselves as I would bet they will use the same 44mm case as the CA whereas the Skyland uses a 45mm. But you know what, I'm prepared to lose that 1mm for such a gorgeous piece

What I've been waiting for - thanks Apart from the few little niggly 'modifiable' details (caseback, HeV, CGs etc.), this exposes the obvious weak link in the MBW - the crappy dial. I'm still mesmerized by that Mk II chocolate beauty - it feels like being slapped in the face repeatedly by a cold salmon without flinching Tsk, I notice you've STILL not popped one of your hoard from Andy on there to make it more 'original'. You'll cave in eventually I'm sure!
-
"underwear", "topless", "big crown", etc. Yikes, there's now a distinct and uneasy undertone of homoerotic S&M going on here between you two At which point, I'll politely make my excuses and leave very quietly....and very quickly
-
WS - those dials, loving your work my friend Ok gents this is getting seriously HARD CORE - keep 'em coming!
-
Mmmmm, there's just something about minty 'safe queen' fresh *Nanuq pulls a face*
-
Why not ask for a pint of blood whilst you're at it?!!! Those pics not enough to sate your appetite??? As J says, they're a bugger to take good pics of, there's an ethereal quality that's difficult to capture. Personally this is my favourite so I'll show it again.....just for you
-
But sadly for now she lies asleep, frozen on the 31st until a new insert can be found You see? THIS is why we need a vintage room
-
Actually, I think I crapped on my own thread
-
Mmmmm, nothing like a nice Aussie BBQ....
-
Just for you, L-dizzle Nanuq - please send me that 1675 now - you can even keep the jubilee, crystal and dial, just send case and movement - call it a belated birthday gift Wightstuff - nice to see the 'Twins' out again
-
My PO crystal is HERE!!!!! *speechless* More pics in Omega area
-
Firstly, Jakub was a delight to deal with - big kudos to him for arranging this service and giving us Europeans an alternative to Chief's US operation And what can I say about the results and let me say the photos do not do the crystal justice, looks even better in the flesh!!! The dial just leaps out from behind the 'invisible' crystal - a nice blue light-sucker of a coating. Ack, you know what? Judge for yourself.... Bathroom shot - polished honey limestone is so much more tasteful than Ubi's brown granite don't you think? Now where did that pesky crystal go? Oooh...me likey that hour hand lightning bolt 'zing' Some more spotlight action... Daylight shot - hmmm, must water the planters more often And last but not least, a mean and moody shot aboard my Riva.....
