Gauging interest on Genuine Swiss 6497-2 highbeat mvmt
docblackrock replied to kye_lin's topic in The Panerai Area
I wonder if his watchmaker gave HIM a post-sale reduction/refund on the $600 movt he bought, you know one of those that were "smuggled out" before sending to Panerai? To quote Admin... --------------------------------------------------------------- Deja Moo - The feeling you have heard this bull before --------------------------------------------------------------- -
Maybe Oli's just waiting until this thread goes VIP Eh? Is it the 'weekend' already then, time to dust off your dress? Please don't...just leave the old trout undisturbed wherever she may be

As I said before and others backed me up, it is completely false economy to buy a cheap PC. Aside from the 10x of machine for 2x price, don't forget to factor in at least 2x or 3x lifespan, and 10x user-friendliness and there's really no option. The Intel chip and ability to run Windows (if needs be) has removed the last barrier to switching. No more excuses. You ever wonder why us Mac people are so zealous in our praise??? Try it and you'll see why I realise the Macbook (let's forget the Pro due to your budget) is still expensive AU$1600 about US$400 above price in US/UK, but there is another option, something normally only advertised in UK, France and I believe Canada, but actually available worldwide inc. Australia Go to apple<dot>com<forwardslash>au<forwardslash>buy If the finance options are not an option (just checking) then you can order direct from an 'International Store' Then choose UK You then see this.... Scroll down right to the bottom and click the are marked thus.... then... and browse away at some great prices Don't worry, Apple has an open policy on shipping Macs worldwide (unlike iPhone's/Pods etc.) so shipping addresses are NOT confined to the UK/Eire, remember the "buy from International Stores" link on the first pic's Apple Australia page? Can't comment on import duty.

Pam 8 days Caliber 2002 Three barrels...

As I said before, the gen 'Nibbler's Fang' PR is awful Whilst we're talking accuracy to gen, the rep is also missing the gen's (pointless?) meridian/moonphase indicator on the sub secs at 6. Also note that the gen (233) has reverted back to an anorexic crown, not as nice as the thick chunky crown we're used to seeing on the rep mini-Fiddy, 212 etc. However, put this innacurate rep in the correct mini-Fiddy (44mm) case, sort the datewheel, and I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Got the same SS pair myself, think it was Angus who sold them last year

*and breathes again....* Ah sod it, there's a long way to go and we never make it easy on ourselves At least we weren't the only one of last year's finalists (and between us TWELVE times champions, yes read that and weep you wannabe's TWELVE!!!!), to lose to *ahem* a lesser team tonight Putting aside my despair and frustration, I must say well done the Bhoys!!!! Great scenes and thoroughly deserved after last years' pickpocketing. I only wish JTB were here to share his joy but no doubt he'll be leaping around the pub/his living room like a lunatic -

Then how do you explain the appearance on the list of the 217, with an even smaller run of only 1000?

Thanks for translating perfectly Ape Putting prices up there I think just clouds the issue - I get the 'retail' analogy where price comparison information is useful, but as above, there's SOOOOooooo much more to consider when making a purchase. And yes, dealer discount and customer service varies greatly. Dealers price check each other anyway, and some aggressively price cut to squeeze business from elsewhere, yet the after-sale service is not comparable. I think most of us know genrally who offers better prices and who has great after-sales service - that's what the trade review section is for. I should have been clearer with my squirrel monkeys and monkey nuts, sometimes pictures are NOT worth a thousand words

Nope, although he could audition for a place on the Man U bench Terry is usually the cheekbone breaker anyway, a little bit of karma in the world. Here's hoping Los Che give the crying Chavs a spanking tonight. Morientes and Villa to do the damage Personally, I hope LFC put on a decent performance and win tonight, especially after the draw in Porto. Will be difficult though with the return of Djib Cisse, a mercurial French striker with a point to prove against his former employers -

Personally I don't think this type of 'supermarket comparison' is appropriate or helpful. In the old days it used to be considered poor form to post prices openly. Re. TT's pic, it's not all about money or even delivery speed. My thoughts? and

Sub-standard steel??? Clearly you haven't resized your bracelet, built and finished like a tank As for scratching, maybe it's just the user that is extraordinarily prone to scratching it? Clasp is always the most prone place for scratches anyway for obvious reasons, no big deal, if it bothers you just rebrush every couple of months. -
Like the Poll Tax, the RWG Collaboration watch, and electing a sex-pest, Nazi-fathered, steroid-abusing, Austrian-born "actor" as Governor of California, this poll is one of those things that "seemed like a good idea at the time" Honestly, I almost fell asleep scrolling through that predicatable and unimaginative list p.s. no vintage rollies???

Bravo Nanuq, one of life's little pleasures I may have been tempted to take it one step further and play dumb a little longer - asking them what the part-ex value would be on your 'old ratty watch' for that nice and shiney new ceramic GMT. An honesty test, if you will

Hmm, I can't really make out a colour in this underexposed shot. Any clues? The pic poseted earlier in the thread of the 192 shows almost colourless tint AR. Reason I'm curious is that my 192 is one I definitely want AR coating on. I'm thinking accurate or not blue would be nice to match the blue hands. Anyone also know what colour the gen 187 has? Purple-blue? Maybe for simplicity's sake, there just needs to be two colours available here - sepia/gold for vintage/retro/1950-based models, and blue for Luminors/Subs. Whatever, this single vs. double AR argument definitely needs more opinions before proceeding with a PAM AR run though, as I can see ssurfer's point.

Would be interested in The Zigmeister's opinion here. For now, I'm not going to question the authenticity of these movts amid talk of 'smuggling' out before sending to Panerai - you and your watchmaker have the benefit of the doubt, even if I know that at the time (prior to the use of their four inhouse movts), Panerai did ALL their own bridgework, not just decoration. But regardless, 600usd for what is still essentially an undecorated (that bridgework is neither here nor there) standard Unitas 6497-1 which I can pick up new and sealed for less than 200usd, does not represent a "rare" or "great" deal. For a couple of hundred more, I can buy a genuine half-decent Rolex c.1570 or a Cortebert c.616. I know what I'd rather spend my money on.
