Wow that is hideously brilliant, perfect for the Mayfair set. No offence Pugwash if you actually parted with money for it. I won't make any judgements!!

Hi all, just saw a doc on BBC2 about the super rich and they featured the Hublot

Raid at friend's house after order from forum dealer!

Why is it that the rep makers get closer and closer in accuracy to the gen and then decide to remove something like the SWISS MADE (at 6)? It seems such an obvious givaway that it is a rep, unlike the older MBWs etc which had it.

SilixPrime - Order to Arriving - How long?
Flashman replied to greg_rfc's topic in General Discussion
It is always a painful wait but well worth it in the end. My Silix order has just arrived in the UK and due at my door tomorrow. Just over 2 weeks from order, and I think he sometimes has to get the stock in if he does not have it to hand. -
Looks like a gen to me. As an old watch, box and papers often get lost. Sub dial spacing looks right on this. But some quartz copies have the correct spacing too. Just my 1 penny opinion! (or 2 cents for those over the pond)

I was not charged any extra as far as I know for any QC, Neil offers it as standard on all his watches, and they came direct from him, so no drop shipping. Looks like a small slip up on one out of the batch. The other watch was perfect. I have emailed him the pics as per his request and we are going to talk later today ref a solution. So far so good. We can all make mistakes, so as long as it gets sorted out amicably then I am a happy customer. The movement seems fine and after 2 days off my wrist, it is still ticking away. Much better power reserve than my gen omega!! TTK CONTACT NOTE: If anyone is trying to get hold of him ref the noobmariner group buy that was done on RWG in December/Jan, you can get hold of him by PM on RepGeek, a lot of his records we frozen here so he could not get contact/order info out. I think admin here are trying to sort something. T

It was purchased new from TTK, who also did a recent group buy for the Noobmariners on this forum. After I ordered from here, he was kicked off this forum after health issues and a few members kicked off about time delays and contact issues. (I remain totally neutral! ) My contact with him was good, on talking to him when i ordered, he was very informative. Personally I think things got a little too much with his sight issues and the group buy hassle. Payment was easy, delivery by EMS worked well too. He gave me my tracking number the day I confirmed payment to him. But it looks like his QC was a little lacking and this one slipped through. He has asked me to send pics, which I have sent across to him including a new one of the scratched date window. I am now awaiting his suggestions. I will not make any judgements until I know which way this is going with the dealer. I guess he won't be going through the hassle of a group buy any time soon. FYI: He is still active on RG. T

I am in contact with the dealer and hopefully it will all be sorted out. I guess having a replacement dial and second hand would be the best option, so I can get it switched locally, and then maybe a discount off another watch. I will keep you posted. Mistakes happen and no dealer will be perfect all the time, that is life. I am not about to throw bricks around until I know what will be done about it. I am a serious and level headed noob on a mission to collect some great watches. Shame my first hit missed the mark. Fingers crossed all will be well soon. I really appreciate everyones comments and feel incredibly glad to have found RWG! T
-
I will see what TTK comes up with. Getting the dial and second hand changed here would save having to send the watch all round the world again, and there is nothing to say the replacement will be perfect either. At least I know the movement on this one is bang on. I have kept it checked against an atomic clock and it is only out by a few seconds after 2 days.

New Noobfish / SFSO (Arrow Head) Review With Pics
Flashman replied to Flashman's topic in The Breitling Area
Nice one avitt. I guess the more revisions they make to their models the more realistic reps will look as their will always be so many gen versions of similar models that few will be able to tell the rep/gen differences. -
I have to apologise for the quality of the photo. It looks dusty but there is no dust in the dial. It all looks perfectly clean to the eye. As to the date window, it is hard for me to get a good photo of the scratches, but they are definitely scratches. Luckily they are only noticable when you look really closely in good light. If it was just the scratches, I could live with it. As to the arrow hand, it looks like the paint finish has not been carried out properly and only part of the area meant to be red has been covered. Where it has not adheared properly it has left a pinkish mark. There is no dust under the glass at all. Just my cr@ppy pic! I have emailed TTK to see what we can do about it. Thanks for your input. T

Thanks for your opinions so far, I totally agree that some people can go too far with inaccuracies between reps and gens and that we all have to accept they are not the same things. But any manufacturing defects especially when affecting the running or visual quality of the watch are valid issues for return or repair. Is the replacement of a second hand an easy/cheap thing to do yourself or get a watch repair chap to do? I only ask as I would not want to buy all the equipment to do it just for one watch. If I'm going to get stung $100 for replacing the hand then it sort of kills the benefit of a $120 rep. Just so you know, I have yet to contact the collector and just wanted to make sure it would be a fair reason to do so. I will keep all posted on the progress, even though he is not around on this forum anymore. As to my Noobmariner, that is perfect!! (at least so far). T

New Noobfish / SFSO (Arrow Head) Review With Pics
Flashman replied to Flashman's topic in The Breitling Area
Yep second hand is damaged or at least really badly painted at the tip. I think this is unfortunately going to have to go back, or at least have the second hand changed. Something that as a Noob daunts me. I will get back to the collector I got it from. I am sure he will help sort it out. His eyes are not at their best at the moment so guess that it is an easy mistake. -
I think mine has light simplex AR, the photos don't do it justice especially with my photography so am happy with the glass. I can live with the light scratches on the date window, although they are damage done when the watch was put together. As to the arrow head, it does look bad especially now I know about it. Also it is something that really stands out and shows it is a rep. So you guys think it reasonable for me to bring the issues to the collector's attention? T
-
Hi guys, I have received my first reps and as a noob myself just want to get an honest opinion on what consititutes a fair argument for a return with our collectors. I only ask as I know that it is so easy to be really an*l and picky with detail etc and these are reps not gens so we need to be fair and reasonable. On the rep I have, there are two hairline marks/scratches on the silver date window hard to see in the pic, and the arrow head on the second hand has some red paint missing at its tip. Apart from these things the watch is seems great. What your your thoughts? T

BASIC BREITLING NOOBFISH / STEEL FISH REVIEW (ARROW HEAD NEW VERSION) I received my order from TTK, a blue dial Noobfish and a Black dial Noobmariner. Since there is not much written up at the moment about the new Noobfish (with arrow second hand). I thought I would post one. In my opinion the the Noobfish I have received is pretty much bang on in comparison to the pics TTK posted. I compared it to a gen through the window of a local AD although they only had the older version with the cube on the second hand rather than the arrow head. Here are the pics. DIAL The blue of the dial looks like it is a slightly lighter shade on the Noobfish compared to the gen, although it still looks great, and I do like the fact that it is different to the common black or white dials of most watches. The AR looks good too better than in the pics, although I have no idea what double AR would be like in comparison. LOGO DETAILS The little B logo on the side of the bezel (between the 11 and 12 location) is a light engraving, possibly laser rather than embossed. I compared this to the other gens in the window and it looks like some of them have light Bs and others are more pronounced so no real consistancy from Breitling either. DATE WINDOW As to the date window, the silver frame of the gens seemed to vary across their model ranges and the one they had there looked very close to the Noobfish. Font looks good to me too. MOVEMENT Since this is my first rep order I cannot really compare to any ETA movement differences, but the sweep looks good, and I have matched up both this watch and my new Noobmariner against an atomic clock this morning and so far both matching to the second. I will keep an eye on them over a longer time. The power reserve seems to last just over 48 hours, which is far better than my gen Omega Speedmaster. Very impressive. STRAP The strap is solid and heavy to match the watch. It is easy to adjust and surprisingly fitted my 18cm wrists really well. I was worried it would be too big, but now it makes my gen Omega reduced look almost feminine. It is a very comfortable watch to wear and looks like it will be my daily workhorse for the moment. CONCLUSION Well for the money and for a first rep watch, it has surprised me, even comparing it to the Noobmariner, the Noobfish feels like a much more substantial and quality watch. I think it is a great watch for an amazing price. And despite the recent forum debates, I would still be very happy to use TTK again. I hope this helps with anyone considering ordering one. Tom

I've decided not to post here too.

WOW, great review!!!! I have been searching all over the place trying to find a good Moon Watch to replace the gen reduced version I have, and with everyone offering slightly different varients it gets confusing, especially since some collectors are saying it is not being made anymore. A lot of the full size moon watches seem to be based on the reduced version (only bigger) which does not have the little accent line above the E on TACHYMETRE and also has the sub dials pushed out to the edges of the watch resulting in pinched 12,3,6 and 9 markers. A note to anyone getting a gen Omega reduced speedmaster, 'don't bother' although it is a nice watch, the clasp does not lock closed like the larger version, it does not have a screw down crown (it sometimes pops out with general wear and I have broken the crown off without noticing) and their customer service is slack and all carried out by Swatch. For my poor experience with them as a brand, I will now get reps instead. Unless a bargain gen crops up! This has saved me a lot of time and effort. Thanks again! I have just emailed Ruby for pricing options. Have a great Easter! Tom

I just sold my old Range Rover Classic, which loved swimming in mud. When I get the chance again I'll get a Defender and tackle a couple of mountains for a laugh. Although there are not many round where I live, just a few moderate hills.........

Waterproof Watch Testers
Flashman replied to TJGladeRaider's topic in Technical and helpful information
I agree, I think the tactic is to put a cold watch in a glass of hot water and look for air escaping, there will probably be some bubbles from the air trapped under the bezel but it should be quick and shallow enough to give a basic idea of any weak spots. -
Yep the wait is painlful, but from what I have read on this forum, the watches should be great quality.

Good one Narikaa If only we could teleport the packages here.

Great post Edge, I am learning more from this site than when I was at university!

I came across this site which seemed useful as you just enter your tracking code and it does the rest and links it with the country of source. Seems to work for all postal & courier types. Saves a bit of time and effort. Hope it helps! http://www.track-trace.com/post Tom
