  1. I think we will have to wait for the dealers to sell out of the current stock before there will be a chance of getting a factory black date window done. Angus is offering a black felt tip pen mod which makes it gloss but the gen has a matt surround so I will be waiting for the factory version once the movement has been seen to work long term too.
  2. Great review. I wonder if it is possible to get a ruby put on the plate as a mod or a custom plate commissioned with a better adaption of the mod and a ruby for every cog. That way, any dead movements in the future could be fixed and and improved.
  3. Looks great, especially with the date window fix. Will be interesting to see what the feedback is on the brushed bezel. Does anyone else have this same problem with theirs?
  4. You say Jagwar, I say Jag-U-R. Some words are pronounced differently internationally and accepted as such. I doubt very much an American main Jaguar dealer would use the correct and original English style when selling his cars (Jag-U-R). In the same way, in Europe with such a mix of languages and styles I am sure there is no 100% correct way, obviously you can try to copy the manufacturers native tongue, although in Switzerland I am sure there are a few issues too, considering they speak French, German and Italian in different parts.
  5. Well even if the silver date surround on the black face has a gen version I still think it looks pants compared to having a black surround, once they sort that I am ready with my order.
  6. Glad to hear it was all a misunderstanding. Will have to have a look at his stock now. Hmmmmm, what is the next rep on my list?...........
  7. Sounds about right, especially if they are at the heart of a global trading business. 50 a day to the Western world is still small cheese in the big picture of things. But as with all businesses, you treat every customer with respect, especially ones you have a sales history with, they are the easiest repeat business customers. Why shoot yourself in the foot, even if you are successful. Sometimes the tides change........
  8. Sorry to hear about the poor QC on your recent watches. I have to agree that the slow beat movement does seem to be a very obvious tell that it is a rep. The jerky movement although better than quartz will still be noticed by anyone checking your watch. It is the first thing people look out for, especially on Rolexes. The noisy rotor is also annoying, although my gen Speedmaster (reduced, auto) is noisy, but it does not spin for eternity. Out of the 11 reps I have bought in the last few months, I have to say only 1 was perfect (or as described), without imperfections or movement issues. But that was a quartz!! All my auto or manual wind reps have had issues with noisy rotor, debris in the movement, missing brand and serial number engravings, wrong watches sent (very common) or DOA auto movements. Some I can live with, but others I cannot and so I am often down at the post office shipping packages to china et al. You have to be patient when you are rep fishing, you often have to throw the duds back in the water and wait all day for that perfect rep to come along and get caught.
  9. I think the early Rollies did use acrylic domed 'plastic glass' for their submariners as it was strong. Looks like a beat up and repaired gen to me.
  10. Yep, the 007 logo ruins it for me too.
  11. Great looking watch. Enjoy it well.
  12. That 112 is a beauty! Must get me one of those!!
  13. I think the simplicity of the 112 is beautiful. I wish the 176 was still around. I had to get a 177h as a compromise, but still think the basic watch face on the PAMs is best. If anyone has a 176 let me know.
  14. Hi, check on his website to be totally sure. From memory he is selling the latest high beat versions. T
  15. For me it is my Blackbird, feels and looks amazing despite its small flaws. The SFSO is a cracking watch too.
  16. Ordered one of these from Silix and it is due anytime now. Will keep all posted as to how it matches up.
  17. Seems a bit odd considering they are in the business to make the best copies and all these forums are about finding the most accurate (to the smallest detail) reps and these guys are going one step back on such an obvious flaw. I think that there must have been a slip up, or they are going to bring out the more accurate version soon at more money.
  18. Just thought I would share a pic of my new Blackbird that arrived from Silix. He sourced one with as best a pearl as he could and sent me photos before shipping.
  19. I hope they sort out the issue of the missing SWISS MADE that seems to have vanished on the latest MBW/MBK models. Seems odd that they would remove something so key to it looking like a gen. I have been looking for a good one for ages. The cheaper versions have it, but are missing the square date window. Let's see what they come up with, maybe the new super reps will have a missing AP dial logo............
  20. Cheers Francisco, great tutorial. Now I can't wait to try it out on my Noobmariner. Tom
  21. Where did you find that rep of the PP Sky Moon watch Anton? A saving of $999,900 not bad at all. Worthy of the watch collection for the talking point alone.
  22. Wow, avoiding the issue of taste, lets see how cheaply you can get a rep collection worth millions, if only it were made of gens.
