  1. I have had a love hate relationship with mine, first when I got mine the crystal was rather yellow in direct sunlight, so I changed it for a stock mineral and it is now white as snow. The only main difference between the gen is that the central disc on the dial on the gen is much more pronounced and looks much more metalic and swirled. Other than that it is a great looking rep, and stands out from the crowd mainly due to the raise numbers which look fantastic in the right light.
  2. Yep, the faux PR model has a much more accurate dial. The working PR version is way out.
  3. The back of the case has the case opening indents and text much further out than the gen.
  4. Maybe they will then get round to correcting the back of the case, putting the power reserve indicator in the correct position and installing a thinner seconds hand. One step at a time.....
  5. If I hear anything about the progress of my Blackbird I will let you know. I sent it to him for a lume, service and the AR run back at the end of march, and the last thing i heard from him was that he had just paid the duty on the crystals from Cheiftand at the end of May. Fingers crossed I will hear soon, otherwise I will jump in the car and pop over to his address in Milton Keynes.
  6. I've bought two watches from the US and had no problems at all with them arriving. Took about a week and no customs issues.
  7. Also the 7750 versions have better quality and more gen like dials. They may have the same case, but the dial quality is just as important IMHO.
  8. Best option is to pop out the old one and see if the domed ones fit. You can get a simple crystal press to try it out with. Just be careful with the display back.
  9. For me the incredibly strong blue tint was too much, so I have sent mine off for Chieftang's run, it should be back after a service and lume at the end of the month. I will try and post a small review of the work then. It is a watch that nobody seems to have modded and posted on here or RG before.
  10. Well that was a completely unhelpful thread. I don't see why posting the versions on here is such a taboo.
  11. I don't know why everyone is jumping in to bully this chap, all we know is that he had a website about reps and then the admin all jump in to push him for membership or the boot. That is just not cricket. I thought this was a forum to help all those interested in reps, whatever their angle. As long as he is not trying to do a dodgy deal behind the scenes then anyone should be welcome. @Joint, I would not worry too much about the email. If it was a government or legal authority then they would have a proper email and not a gmail or hotmail one. I would ignore it. If you get another one, you are more than welcome to post the content of it here so we can read it and give an opinion. Does it have a mailing address or telephone number? Flashman
  12. True, I remember when the pics first came out, it looks like they are trying to copy the others. For me the original Slevin is a beautiful watch and very different from the crowd.
  13. Thanks for the input, I know that the crown position is a prob too, I think I can live with it. My quartz APROO is a favorite at the moment, but I will upgrade to the new secs at 12 version, unless there are any rumours of a new and improved one coming out soon.....
  14. Well from my browsing of TZ it mainly seems to be full of brand snobs that keep slagging off anyone for not blowing all their earnings buying gen parts and servicing. They also don't seem to be very informed that they will not even open the watches or learn to do anything themselves as it voids the waranty. At least on the rep forums we are learning about the watches and even learning basic watchsmith techniques.
  15. Yep Cape Cod works a treat.
  16. So modding other reps like the IWC BP or Omega PO is ok, but thinking of tweaking the APROO is unheard of. How odd. I guess I will wait for the V3 to come out then.
  17. Well for nearly $600 delivered I would expect a rep to be as close to the gen as possible, and the hand size is something that seems incredibly simple to get right, especially since the quartz versions have thinner hands. would the rep take gen hands, or the one from the quartz version? Considering this is a grail watch for a lot of the members I am interested to see that there is hardly any info on mods for it.
  18. Having hunted through all the info on the secs at 12 AP ROO it seems that the main tells are the main hand thickness (and hour hand collar), the thickness of the text on the subdials (rep is much thicker) and the position of the date window (slightly out). I can live with the last two, but has anyone modded theirs with thinner and more accurate hands. I have a quartz version which has much more gen like hands, but I am not sure if they can be swapped.
  19. I am waiting for my cheap moonwatch to arrive and will try out the acrylic cousins glass that Docdoc has tried. Will vastly improve its look.
  20. I tried one of the seamaster straps on my 42mm PO and it did not fit well, even if you removed the metal nips. it does not push close to the case between the lugs. If anyone finds a source for a rep 20mm PO rubber strap then please post it here.
  21. Congrats for the new addition to the family!
  22. I am sure it is possible, but would be a lot of hassle and also might be too thick to fit the movement, could risk damaging the movement if it jammed. Maybe you could get an ETA datewheel from the suppliers (Ofrei or Cousins) would save a lot of time and risk.
  23. PAMs have push down crowns with the lever holding it gently shut and they seem to be good waterproof reps.
  24. Good to know, thanks Stephane. I will have to give Chris a try soon.
